I think it is brilliant that there is a memorial to Admiral Horatio Nelson here in Morayshire. It is quite a steep climb from the car park to the monument. Entrance is by donation. The monument is open from 2pm until 4pm April to September. It is run entirely by volunteers under The Forres Heritage Trust. It is 97 steps to the top of the tower via a spiral staircase, it is tight so it will not suit everyone. Read moreGreat walk up from east side of Forres, the autumn colours were are amazing, so many leaves on the ground in the woods leading up to the tower. Took a roundabout way as it was so wonderfull. The views at the top were fab, looking towards the sea and Findhorn. Met a couple of folks who said they were looking for a fallen tree sculpture of a dragon/serpent. Had a look and it was just down the hill from the tower on the east side. Lovely carving of the fallen tree. Just a fab area, also sat on the bench beside the tower and had tea and cakes....
Read moreFree parking and then a woodland walk up to the Tower over some fairly steep paths. When you get there its a spiral staircase up to the top with some exhibition rooms off from that. Awesome views from the top as you'd expect! Donation entry and it's an historic monument so don't expect cafes or toilets. It's also volunteer staffed so entry times...
