Researched on TripAdvisor first, saw reviews about being small but thought we would still try it as we were in the area. We were stood outside and felt it didn't look much from outside but luckily we still decided to go in. We were very surprised. There is parking outside the door, wheelchair accessible and easy to get to off the M6, and surprisingly quick from North Greater Manchester etc The museum is all on a ground floor too. It is a Lovely, very well presented museum, with very knowledgeable volunteers who some have worked within the industry. All vehicles are in very good working condition and were upkept throughout our visit lots of times to an immaculate condition. It is £10 for adults, free under 4. Lots of interactive exhibits and able to go on 6 of the vehicles which my little girl loved. Great to see how well they have all been reconditioned. They have squeezed in a selection of the most amazing vehicles with lots of good information. A fascinating trip back in time through British HGV and bus history. A wide spread of stuff from traction engines to the armoured Pope mobile. plenty of stuff to stir memories, but still child friendly too.
They even have a corner for younger children with some interactive games and a littleride on car. Very entertaining and interesting place. Well worth a visit. Absolutely worth a visit if you hold an interest in transport and are in the area. Plenty to keep the kids interested too. Lovely afternoon spent learning the story of Leyland and seeing all the wonderful...
Read moreHad a great time. Visited whilst attending the Fishwick & Ribble running day. Some great exhibits, a lot of vehicles from local firms; which is good to see. Loved the Scampi Fries mini vehicle, if I could have got it under my jumper and walked out with it, I would have lol. There is an area to entertain the young uns. Information on each exhibit.
Knowledge staff, was told that evey vehicle is a running vehicle. Rick gave me a fascinating talk about one of the buses, tragic story but entertaining non the less.
There is a cafe inside. Obviously I had to try a butter pie, it would be rude not to 😉. WOW! Really tasty, and was packed filling wise. Cost £4, which some may think was a bit steep, but it was a good sized pie. If I were to have one criticism, it would be that they don't have any plastic cutlery if you get a take out.
Would recommend anyone into these type of vehicles to pay a visit. £10 I think was a reasonable...

What an amazing place the care that has gone into preserving these old vehicles is outstanding. To see so many flawless examples of how transport has changed through the years is a spectacular thing.
There's so much to see you need a good couple if hours in there.
There's onsite parking, good disabled access, a small cafe, gift shop, and a interaction zone for the kids at the back.
The staff are friendly and welcoming and are happy to answer whatever questions they can on the exhibits.
There are touch screen display dotted around with information in some of the vehicles which due to covid we were provided with a pencil and asked to use the rubber end to you them.
Good covid practice being followed there sanitizer, gloves and masks provided at the door, and notice all around about social distancing.
All in all good...
