Doxey Marshes is a lovely nature reserve that starts just on the edge of Stafford town centre. It's not far from the railway station and if coming to Stafford by car you can park on Sainsburys car park. Access from the town is via a walk along the old disused railway track just off Sainsburys and it's not long before you're on the marshes. Great for birds & wildlife and also a nice circular walk, jog or bike ride. The River Sow runs through the marsh and there are several pools and a couple of bird hides as well as benches along the way. Cattle roam the marsh but they're very friendly! Dogs are welcome but because of the wildlife & cattle, dogs should really be kept on leads. You could easily spend a good couple of hours mooching around Doxey Marshes and might be surprised at the amount of birds and wildlife you see at this edge of...

Doxey Marshes is a little oasis just outside Stafford. There are different ways to access, but we chose from the M6 end. You can do an out and back or loop. Plenty of benches and a twitchers hide too. Lots of Canada Geese and Swans. There are various depictions of local birds on posts as you walk. Well maintained and to my mind it would be pushchair friendly but gravely in parts. A great place yo sit and reflect but if the wind blows the wrong way the M6 is at times noisy but the further in you get the less it mattered. Main Train line passes by too. Keep Dogs on a leash as there are Cattle grazing. But if you want a little piece of the wild on your own doorstep then great walk. Virtually...

Lovely peaceful places to escape from the world, Definitely one of the best places to go for a nature walk in Staffordshire.

Great Birdwatching and also Train Spotting. Although my preferred hobby is Photography which Doxey Marshes is utterly stunning for from wonderful wildlife photos of Herons, Swans, Egrets and a huge range of other birds as well as some amazing photos of trains too as a couple of months ago I managed to snap The Flying Scotsman as it went Steaming Southbound.

It's a good place to bring your kids or your dog for a nice long...

We've driven right past this place so many times on the M6 over the years, and didn't know it existed! Well surfaced gravel paths lead all around the marshes / pools, with bird hides placed here & there. The River Sow flows through the marshes with paths alongside. Lovely place to walk the dog or to look out for wildlife. We park behind Focus (GreyFriar's Industrial Estate), as well as by the play ground at the end of Wooton Drive. Access also available from large car park near Sainsbury's.

Lovely urban wetland nature reserve in Stafford. There ia a small amount of free parking and note there are no facilities here apart from a few hides. But the range of wildlife you can see is impressive. When we visited it was a guide tour will a super knowledgeable local expert. So this really gave us an insight it to the potential species we could see here. Well worth a visit you can see the main railway line and the M6 but it still has a countryside feel.

Located in Stafford, is this nature reserve, you’ll simply find lots of wildlife, bird watching, fishing and dog walkers here, close to the M6 motorway, parking can be an issue now they have built more houses at the Creswell entrance but parking on the estate will be fine. Be sure to where suitable footwear as can sometimes be very muddy and wet.
