Holmcroft — Restaurant in Stafford

First time here after we were told it's a great place for food. Granted we arrived just before the kitchen closed.

I had the "Yorkshire Stack". Here's what I thought.

The "cheddar"mash tasted exactly like smash The peas and carrots were 100% from a can (you can tell by the colour and softness) The sausages tasted like walls or richmond The gravy was watery and tasted generic The yorkshires were blatantly frozen and re heated as were the exact same size as eachother.

Although I understand running a successful pub that serves food is hard and the demand is big it's still unacceptable to serve stuff like that in this day and age.

We will give this place another try but can't say I'm looking forwards...

I had food which was lovely think it was Deni who was the chef that day! They have been doing the 40% off food so it’s been really busy but the food has always stayed to standard which is good even when the kitchen gets battered by everyone ordering at once. They staff are very nice who work there! The young girls Megan and I can remember the other girls name who wears the makeup with the dark hair, always have a smile on their faces and are so polite! Yvette was fabulous! She came to our table and took our order when she noticed us struggling with decision making and she delivered great food and drinks in a timely manner. The food we had included: fish finger sandwich and best chips in UK;. Tasty Tomato soup and bread followed by spectacular sticky toffee/date pudding with both custard and ice cream.
