After giving a great review before, I now need to give another. My husband and me walk around Longton Park several times a week and have our lunch in the Aynsley tea rooms regularly. It has suited us really well because my husband has cancer and needs to stop as he can go weak and this helps us get along. Today on arrival as usual, we were told we couldnt go in as it was closed for a private party and they told us to go round to the kiosk but the shutter was down. We were in there the day before and no one told us they were going to be closed. They put a note on the window only this morning which is too late once people have already arrived. We feel they should have their private party after they normally close or tell us sooner. We are regular customers and were very surprised that they turned us away. We have been very happy to go there regularly but now we will think again as this experience has upset us.
Thank you for your reply to my review, we fully understand that the staff are mainly volunteers, they do a great job, that is why we go there and that is why we gave them a box of chocolates to share for Xmas as we appreciate it. We have no problem with the staff having a party they deserve it, but the note was put on the door that day, saying closed today when we had already walked all through the park. We wish everyone a nice Xmas and a...
Read moreOne of the most beautiful parks I've been to. I enjoy the wildlife and the wide variety of trees from around the world.. This is a Victorian park.
This is a very well maintained park great for taking children for a walk unlike a lot of parks there is no dog muck that I've seen on the occasions I've been. Which is credit to the dog owners that frequent here..
And there's lots of wheel chair friendly pathways so it can look varied and new every time you visit by simply taking a different route.
It's also equipped with an safe modern playground a small football pitch. There's 2 tennis courts 2 basketball courts.
Also skate park
And a visitor center under construction where you will be able to purchase refreshments and I presume snacks.
All in all its got everything that you would want in a town park and in my opinion is an absolute credit to stoke.
The lay out and planting and maintaince of this place is superb and many friendly people that often say hello.
In short if you are looking for something to do to lift your mood give the kids something of a day out walk your dog..watch wildlife at work. Longton park I the place to go.
Among the other parks in...
Read moreTo be honest, I wouldn't even give this place a 1 star! Went in with my 7year old earlier who was stood squeezing her legs for a wee, I asked politely if she could use the toilets and was told ...yes if you buy something. I had no money or bag with me at all I pretty much begged him to let her use the toilet to which he told me to use the public toilets...by time we got there my daughter had wet herself. I went back in afterwards and thanked him because she had wet herself. I was absolutely livid! I've seen many replies that this place is run by volunteers with special needs or disabilities...volunteer or not, disability or not...surely you've got some empathy towards children! The man told me "i dont make the rules" I understand there are certain rules, I was not aware of these but surely if you can see a child is desperate you could make an exception? If I had of got my bag with me i would have purchased something, but why should that matter? What was meant to be a lovely day out was spoilt because my daughter was embarrassed and we had to drive home to clean her up. I would never visit here again and would certainly not recommend to...
