Unfortunately such a terrible experience with racism and dismissal. I went to one of their pubs with my family and were met with such hostility by one staff member. This staff member only did this to my family (only brown family) but seemed happy and welcoming with everyone before and after us. She was so rude and short with only us. This was reported and I was contacted by Titanic Brewery. As requested, I emailed them with the details. Four days later I was told they had investigated my claims and said the poor service was due to stress. I was so shocked that they disregarded everything I said and just put it down to stress. It also made no sense as I had told them this staff member was only treating us that way so it couldn't be due to stress. Furthermore, when she bought our food over she went from happy to hostile once again. So unless being around us stressed her out that much, it sounded like a poor excuse for racism. I was also told that they were sorry "you feel as though you were treated differently" this is a very suggestive syntax and carefully worded to seem empathetic but to not believe my claims. I have now requested that they keep the CCTV footage and I am sure it will support my claim that this staff member was only hostile towards us. So not only was the experience in their pub terrible, the response from head office was arguably worse. It was 'investigated' and very dismissively put down as 'stress'. I certainly do not become racist or single out a group of people when I am...
Read moreThis is the 3rd time that i've done the Titanic Brewery tour, the last time being 7 years ago when the owner Keith used to do the tours.
I decided to visit again with my wife and friends as we'd all enjoyed our last tour so much. This time around was no different and it was run really well.
Lynn was our guide and she was absolutely brilliant! She told the story of the brewery and threw in the odd anicdote here and there that were often hilarious and she knew how to draw in the crowd.
On the tour Lynn told us how things worked and again threw in some hilarious anicdotes. Especially when it came to the 5 bar gates that appeared on a wall where the mash tunn etc. was kept.
Back in the tasting room Paul the barman was kept busy with the drinkers but coped incredibly well and was often funny with his stories if you got talking to him. Jill made the Lobby which was an AM-AZ-ING stew and it was devine!
For £17.50 you get amazing hospitality courtesy of the Titanice tour guides, 3 pints of their superb beer straight from the source, a plastic pint glass, and of course the lobby. An absolute bargain and it is easily one the best brewery...
Read moreWe did the brewery tour yesterday and we had a fantastic time. Lynne, Andy and Kev(apologies if I have got names wrong), made us welcome from the first moment. The tour is informative and the tasting and food are great. No-one is in a hurry during the tasting and the entrance fee permits you to taste three drinks. The "Plum Porter" is their best seller but we also has "Steerage" and "Anytime IPA"- bother equally great! Kev served us "Lobby", which is a North Staffs version of stew. It was excellent! I thought you could make it a feature of the tour by providing Staffordshire oatcakes, to make it a complete local, traditional meal ( just a thought) I got the impression that you could repeat the tour again and again and it would feel like a different experience, as it is not a corporate tour but a gathering of like-minded people! Definitely recommended! ( Just a shout-out for our Titanic local - "The Old Poet's Corner", in Ashover. They have the full range of Titanic brews and the food is excellent!. Well worth a visit, if you are over towards...
