Read moreI understand this is the only site in Europe where the medieval houses were re-built on the excavated foundation stones, all of which are clearly visible and were brought up by cart from the adjacent Lavernock Point Beach. Daily tours with a costumed guide run throughout the year (double check on line or phone the Cosmeston Country Park to avoid disappointment should the village be closed forany reason) and cost £5.00 per adult. You'll be transported to 1350, the year the Black Death reached Cardiff. The atmospheric thatched cottages, dimly lit by candles, are surrounded by beautiful herb and vegetable gardens, lovingly cared for staff and costumed volunteers from the local area. Not to be missed..a quite different experience to St. Fagin's the National Museum of Wales which is also a must-see destination. Cosmeston Medieval Village also provides costumed educational tours for school and student groups of all ages and nationalities, all of whom will take away unique memories of a magical part of...

You learn a lot, get insights from the peasant's point of view, get to ask questions and it costs you no extra over the admission fee. Each time we've done it, our party had the guide to ourselves. A whole hour for about a fiver: superb...
