We haven't been here for a while due to Covid restrictions and were in for a treat when we returned. They had redone the park since we were last there and the children had an absolute blast. There were so many things for them to climb and play on. It started to rain just as we left the park but still continued on our walk. Just past the park the path was smoother which was better for our children to ride their scooters on. We took our dogs and the majority of other people also had their dogs on leads too. I didn't see any dog mess though there is a need for more dog mess bins around the walks as could only see bins next to the park. There is ample parking which is right next to the entrances for all the walks. There are also amenities right next to the car park which were all clean. There is a cafe at the car park though we didn't go in. We will return to extend our walk along some of the other lovely walks we have...
Read moreOur first ever visit and took the 'scenic route' through Barry and Sully (Sully was busier than normal on a Sunday, as there was a car-boot sale next to the sports ground). Parking was easy and plenty of spaces, as we were there 10mins after it had opened. Pleasant walks around the lake and through Cogan Woods (we took a photo of the map but would have benefited from a few more signposts). Lots of wildlife to see but had to watch where we were treading because of the amount of horse droppings along all the paths (only saw the one horse + rider, but the trails must be popular). The other downside were the amount of dogs left to run free (sorry, but my wife isn't too confident around them) and come darting out of undergrowth and the trees. Traffic was heavy heading out to Llandough (decided to head home another route), getting back out to the...
Read moreBeautiful place to visit especially during the warmer months. There is a lovely large park which has had a revamp in the last few years and a large bbq area to book and hire. Lots of lovely birds to spot and the kids love feeding the ducks. The swans are from from shy so keep the smaller ones close! Windsurfing can be watched on the lake sometimes too. Dog friendly and can also make use of the canter track if you have registered to take your horse here too. Lots of different length walks around the lake area ranging from around 1 mile to 12 miles long!! At the rear of the park is the medieval village with shows and live demonstrations some months of the year. Very adequate parking and a lovely little cafe on site. Public toilets near the car park and cafe are clean too and well managed. A really lovely day trip...
