We came here as our kids (10 years old & 6 years old) wanted to go fossil and shark teeth hunting. We only spent 2 hours here (costs £3 to park via the app) but the kids had fun. Staff were friendly and I saw a few of them down at the beach, explaining to children what their finds were.

To find the area for the fossil hunting you have to go past the outdoor cafe, down approx 3 sets of stairs, then you turn left and walk down the path to the end where there will be a final set of stairs, leading to the beach area with the red clay cliffs on the left. Check online for tide times as for example when we went the high tide was around about 3pm. Also the sand can be very sticky so kids will get abit dirty whilst there. I saw somebody brought a pram down all the stairs but I wouldnt recommend as its too much work, put baby in a baby carrier (as we did) and carry them down is easier.

Our kids think they found a shark tooth whilst there and fossilised wood and were happy to have spent...

The Essex Wildlife Trust Naze Nature Discovery Centre is a wonderful place for nature lovers and families. As someone who has visited the centre, I can say that it truly is a hidden gem. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. What I found particularly impressive was the range of facilities available at the centre, including a café serving delicious cakes and refreshments, a well-stocked gift shop, and clean and accessible toilets. Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Essex Wildlife Trust Naze Nature Discovery Centre. It's a fantastic place to connect with nature and learn about the local ecosystem. With friendly staff, engaging activities, and beautiful scenery, it's a great day out for people...

Beautiful place for relaxed Sunday walk. Not too crowded, though in the afternoon car park was full. Spacious visitor centre with clean WC, shop and cafe. We acquired couple of books and some funny children's stuff that we -three adults on this trip - enjoyed a lot. Good selection of bird food and feeders. Beach is quite unique as it's made from London clay - you think they all are black stones and pebbles but actually it's clay. Plenty of information about it on boards along the walk. Also can see quite heavy...
