A great place to walk a dog. I've been going to john Leigh park since for ever. The path all round is a great little walk. It has two park areas for the kids. One for bigger kids then further round one for the younger kids which has a fence all around it. It has a small aviary. There are always loads of people there when it's a sunny day and the ice cream man parks up in it on warm days too. It has tennis courts/ football/ and basketball courts. It is a very popular place with dog walkers so not a place to go if petrified of dogs.

Nice park. Looks well maintained. Sections of garden with nice flower beds, a couple of kids play areas, plenty of benches to sit and enjoy the outdoors. A little aviary with some birds. Toilets which have certain opening times (should have take a photo, sorry!) Lots of dogs off lead, plenty of bins, maintained paths for walks.

Lots of benches to sit and bins around the park. Great for dog walking, picnicking, park area, and exercise as there are stations around the park; wooden monkey bars, pull up bars in three different heights etc. And a nice jog/walk path round the perimeter of the park.

It's been a nice park in the past, when people made efforts to use the eyes they no doubt possess. It's interesting that the park is filled with signs that say to "Keep your dog on the leash" So I visited last week with a few small children. Imagine our surprise and the children's terror and crying when a massive black dog rushed towards us without a leash, mouth open and foaming while barking. The owner was nearby, but was talking to someone on the phone while turned away from her dog. Seeing how she was obviously too busy to control her dog, her conversation must have been a matter of life or death. It's happened before as well, sometimes while we are standing right next to a "Keep your dog on the leash" sign. It makes me wonder whether people are being taught how to read in Altrincham's schools or not. Doubt I'll ever...

It’s a nice small green space if you want to sit and read as an adult. It’s not a bad hang out spot as a teenager. But for kids it’s pretty rubbish.

The play equipment is very limited. You can get one or two kids on each item. And the choice is slim. Children, young and old, will get bored here quickly.

My 2 year old couldn’t go on a lot of things as they weren’t suitable. My 10 year old used the slide and roundabout and then got bored very quickly. Both love parks normally and play for hours.

Parking is restricted. Midweek you have a time period in residential streets. Weekends you can park as long as you want, if you can find a space.

Probably one to avoid. There are other parks in greater Manchester that are a lot better and more...

This is a really nice park - it's well kept with very little litter. There are no railings between the fast road (Oldfield Road) and the playground, which isn't great in terms of safety. And the playground for young kids is a distance from the play area for older kids, which isn't great for those looking after kids of different ages - I don't think this park was designed by a parent! But they do have an aviary, which is fantastic, and tennis courts, and a bowling green. There are lots of trees and a nice grassed area. There's also a more formal garden at the back. You can tell the volunteers look after this park really well. It feels very safe...
