I have been here couple of times before with my friends which I always enjoyed my time, however I felt the need to review my visit today. I stepped in just around 2:18 pm on Sunday. Being welcomed by the waitress and offered a seat just by front window. Being served with a glass of water and offered a drink which I chose a coffee. Coffee served quickly and in less than 5 minutes my food was brought to me (I know the time as I took the picture of my food!). First thing first: the food was lovely thanks to the chef! AND I really wanted to ENJOY my food! HOWEVER: Just 20 minutes after I’ve been served my food, while HALF of my plate was still full, a girl with grey suit (probably floor manager!) rushed to me asking am I finished? Which I replied no! 5 minutes after that I noticed she was staring at me and my plate while standing by the counter. I just felt so uncomfortable.
Bear in mind, there were other people seating as well, and I even checked if a new customer was waiting to be seated which no one was there. The same lady mentioned to the group of people in front of me that they need to give their orders as the kitchen close at 4 pm and shop close at 5 pm. So I was thinking that I have enough time to finish my food!
Unfortunately, in 5-10 minutes later, a new girl came in front of me, while asking am I finished my food (and want a dessert!) , (while still there were food in my plate, and I didn’t put my plate away from me) took my plate and to be honest I was embarrassed to tell I WANT to finish my food, leave me alone!!!!
I was SHOCKED. I tried to sip my anger and sadness from their behaviour with remaining of my coffee however again noticed the stare of the GREY girl on me, which finally succeeded to urge me to pay to her and leave the shop.
I know maybe working on busy Sundays are not ideal. However, as someone who USED TO OWN a food business, I am aware making customers uncomfortable is one of the best way to ruin their good experiences.
The floor manager could respectfully mentioned to me I have specific amount of time to stay in the shop, however I still don’t think I was sitting there for too much time.
I walked out, and stepped into another cafe after having couple of minutes walk while they were going to close in 20 minutes time, however when I asked about can I seat there for a while the guy mentioned (with a genuine smile) “they close at 4 pm but they’re not going to ask me to leave.” Of course I didn’t stayed there for ever and leave there while still customers were sitting but the difference between attitude was very noticeable.
A message to the lady in grey: customers can understand hospitality and genuine/fake smiles. The business owner pays the staff until their last minute of work. If you don’t enjoy spending your time in a restaurant, then change your job. If you enjoy your job then please LEARN how to interact with customers and how to manage the shop floor without putting pressure on customers or your...
Read moreI never leave reviews but my experience at this place has compelled me to leave one.
We sat outside in the sunshine on the 9/7/23 it was lovely Morning. We ordered drinks and food and were told a wait of 25 minutes which we expected, drinks arrived and 2 minutes later another waitress came with another set of drinks which we never ordered. A man appeared and shook my friends hand stating he’s the manager and he needed our spare chair, another tray of drinks arrived but it was another tables. Waitress came over and said our food was next this must have been 40 minutes after we ordered still nothing arrived we were about to cancel our order after waiting another 15/20 minutes food arrived which didn’t look very appealing. My friends food looked very oily she even used her serviette to mop the oil of her food, I had to wait another 5 minutes for my Burger. The Burger arrived with the smallest portion of fries I’ve ever seen,I lifted the bun and the burger was cremated not one but both patties. I looked at the waitress she looked embarrassed and took the burger away she came back and said it would be a further 8 minutes which I wasn’t prepared to wait. She said she wouldn’t charge me for my meal. When we asked for the bill a lady arrived I guess she was the manager or maybe owner she didn’t introduce her self she just said the waitress had told her about the burger and she laughed and said I’ve sacked the chefs and we look forward to our next visit which I...
Read moreWhat a shame! My friend and I favour this place when we catch up in Altrincham. However, our experience yesterday was not what we had come to expect. The last day in August, a Saturday and gloriously sunny meant Altrincham was packed out. We didn't realise you had seating at the back and there were a couple of free tables that the lovely young (to me) man showed us to. While we were enjoying our drinks (total spend was just under £80) a waitress came and put away all the tables and chairs while the sky was still blue. We couldn't understand this, she clattered loudly, pulled off all the seating cushions and lined the tables in such a way that I was pinned in. We, honestly, felt uncomfortable and as if we should leave, yet the premises was still open (3.30pm). Whilst still there 5 other groups of people arrived and set out their own tables (different waitress tried to dissuade the first two) so although we had asked for the bill and paid we decided to stay and placed another order, where I was snapped at by this waitress. All our previous visits (many) have always been pleasant and all staff were smiling and jolly....
