Talliston House & Gardens — Attraction in Uttlesford

We visited a couple weeks ago for a private tour with John and we had a wonderful time. It's remarkable the magic that John has been able to create within the walls of a seemingly ordinary house in a regular neighbourhood. The level of detail in each room gives an indication of the years of work that has gone into building one's perfect house and telling the story of someone's life and everything they hold dear to them. It is clear that John has spent years searching for the right kind of items to create his perfect little world within the confines of a regular house. Visiting Talliston does not feel like visiting someone's house but rather visiting John's mind, thoughts and feelings. You can immediately get a sense of his history and perhaps a look into his future. Even the simplest of people can take something away from Talliston and my own visit has encouraged me to step away from the expected norms of maintaining a minimalist house and to instead opt to imprint my own personality a little more onto my own home because why not, if we don't make our own homes our sanctuary then where else can we feel entirely comfortable. I would highly recommend that anyone who wants a unique experience should take a day trip or an overnight visit to Talliston, particularly if you are looking for inspiration in any kind of form or even if you are just looking to experience something different and to live in John's world...

My Husband and I have very recently shared our experience of Talliston House and Gardens ...... my oh my oh my ........ what an experience ....... we are blown away to say the least !!! Such an adventure. Magical is an understatement !! We stayed the night and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. John the owner just blew us away with his entire talk and Marcus also blew us away with his fantastic menu, great food, great company and such full on intent to please ...... the whole adventure was out of this world and into theirs ........ fabulous for sure. Wow !! .. Words cannot describe this life's work, this creativity, this dedication to detail of one mans dreams .. you have to go and see it.. to be transported through time in such a detailed manor, the attention to detail is astounding in each room, the enormity of fulfilling a dream in a lifetime only is attained by the very few .. inside and outside the house. I was fortunate enough to be guided around by John Tarrow himself..This transformation of a standard 3 bed semi council house into one mans dream house will make you question the type of house you want to live in and think about the space you own now .. and realise that when you put your mind to it anything really...
