I went to this restaurant after reading the good reviews it had received and can not stress enough how disappointed I was with the whole experience.
My chicken starter was served raw in the middle, not just undercooked but raw. When I mentioned this the manager came over and started making excuses of which I explained there was no excuse for serving raw chicken. He made no apology and just took it away.
The people on the next table who had waited an hour to be seated said they had eaten there before and it was OK so I decided to give my main course a try in the hope it was a one off mistake. The mistake was mine as the food was not nice. One of our party had a thick skin on their curry as if it had been standing and reheated in a micro wave and none of the food had any Indian flavour at all it was like meat in a garlic gravy.
I can not see how on earth this place has had so many good reviews, rude waiters, food that could make you seriously Ill if eaten and has little or no flavour to it. I am seriously disappointed and would never eat here again.
The excuse given was that they were to busy with take away orders and the food had left the kitchen unchecked. That is no excuse and if you have a restaurant full of people waiting to be served then guess what?: Stop taking more take away orders.
Another couple on another table were waiting to pay by card on the restaurants mobile card machine which the waiter declared had poor to no mobile signal and this was causing problems for taking payment. I felt embarrassed for the young man as he ended up with three waiters round him all asking if he had extra cards and making a real fuss about payment because the card machine was not working, this wasn't his fault and he and the young woman he was with were visibly embarrassed at all the fuss being made about this.
If you drive past this wonderful old building and feel the urge to try it I strongly advise that you think twice. I would rather have parked outside and chewed my own arm as it would probably have tasted better and have been less likely to...

As new residents in the area, we were excited to try this restaurant after seeing its "British Curry Award" nominations and reading great reviews. Unfortunately, our takeaway experience was incredibly disappointing.
The 50-minute wait time for our order felt excessively long being a collection, and when we finally received our food, it was cold. I ordered the Lamb Rogan, expecting a dish with spice and rich flavor, but it was bland and lacked heat. My partner's Chicken Tikka Masala was equally disappointing, with undercooked chicken that raised concerns about food safety.
The naan bread was doughy and undercooked, the poppadoms were burnt in parts, and the mushroom rice tasted like something you'd get from a supermarket packet. To top it off, the overall quality of the food was far below the standard we expected based on the restaurant’s reputation.
Sadly, this was the most underwhelming Indian takeaway we've ever had, and it has left us hesitant to order again. We truly hope our experience was a one-off, but at this point, it was an expensive disappointment.
As a side note, I did email the restaurant directly about our concerns but never received a response, which only added to our...
Read moreWe were travelling for a family wedding and staying at a Travelodge nearby. We saw that they were still open by the time we reached Dunmow, so we stopped in to order some food. Considering it was nearly closing time, we were able to order takeaway. We sat down whilst we waited for our food to be ready. All the staff members were really lovely, they all came to say hello, seeing as they are our Bengali brothers/uncles.
As they got our order packed, they even gave us complimentary poppadoms, sauces, mushroom rice, dhal, and 2 cans of coke. Much more than what we originally ordered, and they also added a 15% discount. We were blown away by their generosity.
We loved all the food items we ordered, especially the duck biryani and king prawn starter. We really enjoyed our meal.
We'll never forget the love and hospitality we received that night. If we're ever near Dunmow, we'll definitely...
