Never does one grow weary of visiting. Whether it's just a walk with the pooch or a loved one. Within a few minutes, you are transported from the hustle and bustle of Central Whitney into a green refuge while allowed to meander around an old Quarry now filled with water and transformed into a vast Lake. Animals are welcome and often seen leaping into the lake to retrieve a stick on a hot summer day. The lake is home to a myriad of waterfowl. Often, you will see the seasons bringing new goslings and other very cute waterfowl whose parents have chosen to rear them safely here for the summer and early autumn. It is a beautiful gem not well known to anyone outside of Whitney. However, should you be a Whitney resident, you will likely be all too familiar with such a peaceful, natural area.

A really lovely walk around. In winter or if it's been particularly wet it's recommended to bring wellies. It does get flooded in several places. In the the sun on a cool or cold clear day it's really nice.

A really pleasant little place. A reasonable circular walk (30'ish minutes) and plenty of wildlife to be seen. There's no dedicated parking so it's a case of finding a quiet road nearby and walking over.
