A snug man made beach protected by a built up environment that includes Knightstone Island, Knightstone Causeway (sea wall) and Madeira Cove along the Promenade.
The beach is popular with local and visiting families as well as those seeking to dip their toes in Marine Lake, an artificial cove built in 1927 to allow for bathing at low tide and all year round.
Salt water bathing can be enjoyed here without the dangers that face neighbouring stretches of sand and sea such as erratic currents or sinking mud.
The beach is regularly used by local swimming groups, paddle boarders, toe dippers and sun bathers when the weather permits.
No dogs are allowed on this section of beach at any time.
