I tried to support a local business today. - I was down sizing my collection and had quite a few brand new and sealed items to sell.

I sent a few messages prior to making the trip down to the shop with the items I had to sell, I asked what kind of prices they would offer; this was to ensure I didn't waste my time or their time. Unfortunately the only response I got back was via phone was "Oh yes, we take those".

I had my doubts, but I still went and took my items in to store for prices.

Karen dealt with me today, I didn't have good vibes from the transaction from the start. - After waiting 5 minutes while she went to CEX's website and wrote the prices down on a piece of paper and pulled out her calculator. She said she would give £66 for the lot!

In the collection I had quite a few games that are no longer being produced so are difficult to buy, let alone were in brand new and sealed condition. - I said absolutely not.

Karen did say, "Ow for this game, we'd give you £15, and we'd resell for £35". I tried to negotiate and I said i could do it for £20. The response I got was "but I got to pay 20% tax to pay, then staff wages, and .. and ..".

I'm here to do a business transaction. I don't need to hear stories you've rehearsed to say to people so you can try and buy my items for pennies; then for you to re-sell at inflated prices, because I knew Karen would have sold that collection for more then £35.

I also had Nintendo 64 Switch controllers to trade in; these were brand new and sealed again. - I asked for a price, again Karen said "CEX give £22 and we'd then only sell them for £35." - However CEX actually sell the controller in used condition for £50.

I then said, so you would sell brand new controllers for less than what CEX are selling them for in used condition. "Absolutely Karen said".

Karen really thought I'd believe she would sell a controller that is OOS everywhere. In brand new condition, for less than CEX sell it in used condition?

Moral of the story. - Don't waste your time trying to trade items in at MT Games nor try and support this...

Been a customer here for many years, and will forever be a customer with them. Not only have they gone above and beyond for me, but they are such amazing people. We are a family that collect Pokemon cards and for people to say they are just “re-sealing” packs is such a nause! If people knew how Pokemon worked, they’d know full well that Pokemon packs can sometimes be “loose” or “crimped” due to Pokémon’s poor quality control. Especially from the pokeballs! MT open products from boxes such as ETB’s or boxes/tins to get the packs out and sell separately. They’re a business and quite entitled to do that. Not all packs with contain “hits” either, it’s a lottery. I’ve had slack packs, and got something out of it, and others I haven’t. Doesn’t mean this shop should be treated like trash just because something they sell hasn’t had something you couldn’t get. I love this store, I only buy Lego and Pokemon but still, the people are great, lovely stock and constantly updating us with knowledge if they don’t have something or when something’s coming back in. Plus I always start my Xmas shop with them early and pay deposits! (Also something else you could do if you asked nicely). Please don’t put an independent store down due to poor quality control from something they can’t control. MT...

This is a local shop I’ve been going to for a while now. However as of recent the quality is abysmal. The two pokemon boxes I bought totalling to over £100 contained bent card, seemingly damp and not well looked after. I was willing to let this go as boxes can be sat on shelves for a while.

However today I used my payday treat to get four packs of pokemon cards only to get home and find they’ve all been opened and RESEALED.

there was not the right amount of cards, all the holos were taken out and not a single good card, three of the packs were almost identical.

I’m so disappointed. When I went in to take it up with them they were rude and asked me to leave and refused to explain.

DO NOT BUY POKÉMON CARDS HERE. THEY ARE A SCAM. They also over charge for their singles and slabs, please look for a vendor with the expected product. As a pokemon card collector I am disgusted at how as a business you can scam those who just like cards and the luck of the pull.
