This has been on my list to go to for quite some time, and it did not disappoint! We didn't actually stay very long because the weather was dull, my daughter had a cold and after getting wet we wanted to get her warm. However, I can't wait to go back on a sunny day.
The staff were amazing, they actually let us in for free (due to the weather), whereas it's £3 for all day per child usually. We offered to pay upon leaving too but they just said they were glad we had a good time and not to worry about it! What lovely people!!
The park itself is great and is split into what I would say is 3 sections, with ample grassy spaces in between. There's a smaller children's area with swings, a slide, etc. Then there's an older children's area at the back (we didn't get a chance to venture over that far), and lastly, the water park section.
The water was so much fun. I'd say the temperature of the water was tepid- definitely not as cold as I expected it to be. The ground was colourful and a great fun experience for myself and my daughter. I couldn't wait to get stuck in as an adult!
There's an ice cream hut and a small cafe. We got some hot chocolate when we were there which was tasty.
I can imagine it's very popular in the summer. It has a great location; right opposite the sea front, and with Melrose Car Park...
Read moreThis is a great place to bring children. You pay by child, adults go free (even if it's 2 or 3 adults per child). They put wristbands on, so that you can go out and come back in again.
We took the grandchildren, ages 8 down to 3. They all had a really good time. Note that they were wearing swimming costumes with t-shirts on top as it was a slightly chillier day.
The central part is the water activities; a series of water fountain and spraying devices. The kids were running around, splashing each other, and sitting under the fountains laughing at the adults.
Meanwhile, adults can sit on the grassed area, and keep an eye on their children (or it appears not in some cases!). The park is small enough that it's fairly easy to spot your child.
Behind that, there are a series of wooden walkways, climbing frames, rope bridges, and small forts. Enough to let the kids burn off a few calories. Also, sufficiently engaging enough to allow them to use their imaginations.
The site is reasonably well maintained, although it looks as if some work might be useful during the closed season to sort out a few edging issues, and replace a couple of broken parts.
All in all, well worth the entrance fee. (I haven't posted photos as some people get funny about other people having pictures of...

My children and I made a spontanious visit at about 11am on a hot day to this place just before the kids broke up for summer holidays. We stayed untill gone 6pm. It was fairly busy but not cramped. I was extremely surprised how clean, family friendly, fun and spacious this place is. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. I've always known of the water park, but we never went in, i honestly dont know why we didnt before. My kids could run around with enough space and it was easy to keep my eye on them as it is very open. The park has an awesome park bit for small children and another bit for the bigger kids. There are lovely big trees providing plenty of shade for those hot days! But also there is enough space for the sun seekers to sit out and sunbathe. This place made me really feel like i needed to let out my inner child and run round with my kids. I did see a few dad's doing it which was pretty epic. If you ever see a woman running round the water bit living her best life with her kids! No you didnt, you saw nothing!...
