I’m USUALLY the kind of person that only leaves reviews when I have a passive aggressive complaint to make. But today’s visit to the museum is the complete opposite story and experience. I’m a support worker for young adults with learning disabilities and today I took a cohort of young people over to the museum. We were greeted by lovely smiley faces, and a lot of patience as the adults asked many questions. As we walked through to the first room I was blown away by just how INCLUSIVE this place is. Tactile fidget toys, ear defenders, zones of regulation cards and PECS symbols all readily available in back packs, walking aids etc. I also spotted some bits for those with dementia and alzheimer’s though I will not claim to know what these recourses were. As we made our way through I was so at ease knowing that the adults were not only safe here, they were SEEN and CELEBRATED. I can happily say we will all be returning. The Minecraft special was amazing. My son even even said how great it was that they were so well thought through. We also managed to take part in a special slime making workshop, which was run by very enthusiastic and helpful staff. The kids were so pleased with their creations. Everyone was so pleasant and kind. You can really tell how much thought has gone in to making the museum as accessible and engaging for all ages. A...
