We've used this group member in the past, today was obviously an off day. We were passing through Dorchester and thought that a quarter past twelve was a bit early for lunch and decided to pop into the Man in the Wall Wimborne instead, arrived at 12.50, sat at table 48 and went to join one of the two queues at the bar, of the four service points only two were in use and one of these appeared iffy, There was two members of staff on the food ordering it appeared, at 1pm I placed my food order, Holly apologised for the delay and warned me that owing to being busy, there was a 20 -25 minute wait for the meal, we didn't mind so we took our drinks and sat back chatting and waiting, I could see a couple getting really agitated with the delay, eventually their meal arrived but it was incomplete and when the missing item arrived, they were furious as they would be late back to work, they got up and went off to complain, not touching the food! I topped up my coffee and we went back to people watching, I noticed that the young chap serving was having problems finding the tables with the orders and frequently wandered all over the restaurant before finding it's diner, he would also walk past cluttered tables returning empty handed to the service area, where groups of people were sat having booked the Christmas special, they would get served in ones and two's rarely together. However, we now were getting concerned as we were street parked (1 hr. spaces) and at 1.40 our order arrived, complete, hot and very good, owing to the lack of time, dessert was foregone and we left to get back to the car. Sorry J.D. not so good this time..could do better..management problem there, quality of staff and...
Read moreStopped in at The Man in the Wall in Wimborne for breakfast and was thoroughly impressed. This isn’t just your average Wetherspoons—it’s full of charm and character, set in a beautifully restored historic building with cosy alcoves, high ceilings, and a real sense of local heritage. You can tell care has gone into keeping the place authentic yet welcoming.
We ordered two breakfasts: the traditional English and the Eggs Benedict—and both were spot on.
The Full English was generous and perfectly cooked. Crispy bacon, plump sausages, eggs just how I like them, and all the trimmings—great value for money and very satisfying. It came out quickly and piping hot, which isn’t always a given during busy morning hours.
The Eggs Benedict was the real surprise—runny yolks, toasted muffins, and a decent hollandaise sauce that tasted far better than I expected from a chain pub. Nicely presented, too.
Service was friendly and efficient. We ordered via the app and everything arrived promptly. The coffee was smooth, strong, and endlessly refillable—perfect for a slow start to the day.
With its relaxed atmosphere, great prices, and genuinely enjoyable food, The Man in the Wall is now firmly on my go-to list for breakfast when in the area. A hidden gem that balances quality and value beautifully.

Read moreBeen twice. Both experiences not good. After watching a show at the theatre opposite I went with a friend to this place. First occasion the door staff were very confrontational despite neither of us being intoxicated or abusive to the staff. Finally got inside and the bar staff were doing their best to not see is. The bar wasn't busy either. Finally got served and we drank our pints and left. Everyone has bad days so the next time we saw a show we went back. Sadly this was on a par with the previous visit. Poor service and dismissive staff. Sadly all too common in pubs of this type. We don't expect silver service or to be treated like royalty. Just to be served in order at the bar and without the delay whilst listening to the staff have conversations about their holidays and private lives. Not an issue if we'd been served first, however to openly ignore customers and chat isn't good business practice. I asked if they were on a break and they said no, they take breaks away from the bar. So all in all I doubt I'll be back. Far better pubs in Wimborne where the staff are more diligent and friendly. The lower cost of a pint there doesn't make up for the...
