War Memorial Park — Attraction in Winchester

Very nice spot for a tea or coffee from the cafe. Lovely statue of a world war one war horse and soldier. Cannon over by the cafe and a bandstand all in excellent condition. The park is well tended despite the long summer drought. The little River/brook is absolutely crystal clear. We went there long and it's doubtless a stop along the day whilst exploring this market town. The only problem was parking. We were lucky to get a pair of resident spots which only allowed us an hour. If there was paid parking available it wasn't obviously sign posted. Otherwise I'd certainly give this 5 stars it was so peaceful and relaxing. The band stand is venue to a program of events which we advertised at the cafe. A Beautiful and stunning place to go with the family for a picnic. There are toilets on site and a mini cafe to buy food from. On the walk around there is a park with a lot of ducks in. If you go please feed them bird seed not bread and they will feed out of your hands. As you walk along the lake there is a outside gym and tennis court. You are aloud to go lake fishing here but you need a pass from the local council. Like I said its beautiful and stunning for a family afternoon out. My only issue was parking as there is not a lot and it is a bit tricky to get to. Park is in easy location of shops and there is parking available. There is an outside tennis CRT, outside exercise apparatus, river around the park to feed ducks and swans small children's play park within lovely grass areas to picnic, there is also a cafe there with outdoor seating which is open longer in the summer evenings serving hot , cold snacks and drinks, outside toys such as football to buy, ice creams, monuments dotted around the park public toilets, sometimes there is a band playing on the parks bandstand.
