Dawn and Hans Wedding Breakfast 23rd September 2023 Firstly both my new wife Dawn and I would like to say a massive thank you to Suzanne, Heather and all the staff at The White Horse Hotel in Romsey for making our special day that much more special. You where and are so professional in everything you both, and the food for our wedding breakfast was out of this world. When booking our big day with yourselves, we did advise them, it would be a day like no other packed with fun, laughter, magic, singing waiters and lots more. All the staff where are part of that day. If anyone is thinking of booking there wedding breakfast at The White Horse Hotel in Romsey, my advise to you, is do it. You will not be disappointed 5 Stars is not enough for this place and the staff I would give more but I can't. Amazing Kind Regards Hans and Dawn

I stayed in this hotel 3 days for business in Dec 2023. The best thing about this hotel is the historic building it is set in. Outstanding piece of history that I am happy to support, despite the shortfalls of the rooms (shabby silicon work in the shower, clumpy pillows, dodgy tv etc but all minor things, room was actually quite nice). It just has a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Excellent breakfast, with a special note to the lady at breakfast, who was a true professional and caring person. If you need a taxi in the morning, the hotel only has one contact that doesn't accept bookings at school run times. Either take your chance with Uber or book the night before with a taxi company in Southampton (£10 for a local transfer, £20-25 to get into Southampton)

Went here for afternoon tea as a group of 5 (had pre-booked), lovely cosy setting. Unfortunately, like most places, they are struggling with staff and the guy serving was new and this was evident. We did have to wait a long time for our afternoon tea as he served the wrong table first, but we were offered free prosecco by one of the supervising staff and our bill was discounted. The afternoon tea itself was OK, but it was definitely not worth the original £20. The food pictured was for 2 people- quite stingy compared to other afternoon teas I've had. My rating reflects the fact they adjusted our bill due to the service/food. I hope they can sort out their staffing issues!

2022 update I took my husband here for his birthday on 04/04/2022 and we had a meal. It was all really tasty but sadly almost empty so lacking any sort of buzz. It was a Monday night so I'm putting the quietness down to that, but it was odd being the only people eating in a restaurant. The staff were attentive and made suggestions when asked, I must say their suggestions were great too. Yes it is not cheap, the wine can be very expensive although my husband blind chose a bottle for £26 so I got away lightly! We ate three courses and a bottle of wine and the total was £101 so on the expensive end of Romsey. It was really very good but for a birthday celebration and the lack of other diners I wouldn't want to pay that again. I felt on edge as when we chatted it echoed and we were both very self conscious. Of course that's not the fault of the White Horse, just a personal thing. Food was all excellent and they accommodated my changes, I hate chicory and as a vegetarian I had a limited choice for mains. They also gave my husband a birthday treat of some cake and a candle which was a nice touch. He couldn't eat it as it came after pudding and he was full, but he appreciated the touch. On a busy night and when I felt flush I would definitely return.

2018 Bit posh here but nice for a treat! I have has drinks here as well as high tea but you do need to remain on your best at all times! And beware it's expensive so for me it is a treat or when I want to impress, not a place for fun and frolics! Nice very central location, old charming buildings and...

So disappointed. Booked a table for 9 people on 22nd February to celebrate my Aunties Birthday. We arrived and were shown to our table. It stated at the table to let them know if a birthday was being celebrated as the meal & dessert would be free of charge for the birthday person, how lovely! So that's what we did.... The waitress asked if we could provide photo ID of some kind to prove that it was my Aunties Birthday. My Auntie does not drive & she certainly does not carry her passport in her handbag, who does?! My Auntie was given cards & presents at the table. This wasn't good enough apparently. She offered to show them Facebook posts/text messages from family & friends wishing her a Happy Birthday. The response being that they had to follow protocol! The same response was given by the 'Manager'...although as a gesture, a dessert was offered. To top this all off, my Auntie was then given a plate which the chef had written Happy Birthday on, Really?!!!!...| |You may have to follow protocol but maybe you should be asking your guests at the time of booking if they would be celebrating a special occasion so that they maybe prepared for the criteria of your computer! Perhaps you could trust the discretion of your staff? If a large group of guests arrive with cards & presents then it is most likely that the Birthday is legitimate & should NOT be questionned!||Please respond!||Shame on you...

We held my father’s 90th birthday lunch at The White Horse Hotel, in the Romsey Suite, this is a large room with a Mezzanine bar above. We were a party of 37. When we took the decorations in we were met by Izzy and Josh who were preparing the room and bar, they were very welcoming and helpful. Everyone arrived at 1pm and we had a drink in the upstairs bar and then went down to sit at our designated table, names and food choices were on place cards and beautifully folded serviettes at each setting, thank you Izzy. It was a Sunday and the majority of people had a roast dinner, but all the food was beautifully cooked and hot. Will was really efficient at keeping everything moving along at a nice pace, serving the food, pouring wine and running the bar, he had Felicity and Heather helping him, they were very professional and polite. I must not forget the chefs, Keiron the head chef and Drew, the roast potatoes were fluffy and crisp, the lamb, beef and chicken served thinly sliced and perfectly cooked, as was the rest of the meal. I must say a very big thank you to Emma in Events, for an excellent service, nothing was too much trouble. Thank you all for a...
