On initial impressions the place felt a little run down, sad and tired-looking. The children's play area we were impressed with, as it was very spacious, and had a lot of play equipment, for children of all ages to play on. However the maintenance and upkeep of the area was very lacking, for example the roundabout, no child could push round and round, and even for a fully grown adult, a lot of exertion was required! Also there was a fair amount of leaves from last autumn that were very noticeable on the ground. Then we went for a walk around the lake, and it was very sad to see a lot of things that had been active in the past, now looking very derelict ☹. In summary we did think that improvements needed to be made, but we did have an enjoyable and pleasant time at the park.

It was busy as it was school holidays. Nice sitting outside looking over the lake. It was the afternoon and choices were limited as it had been so busy but what was there looked nice. Coffee was nice and the foccacia and the bun we had were delicious. Only one downside are the toilets around the back of the cafe! They were filthy, no soap, no paper. The sink was disgusting. Hadn't seen a cloth for sometime. We spoke to the chap in the cafe and he said the council was responsible for them and they aren't cleaned enough. Brooklands is a lovely place and what they have done to make it nicer is lovely. The kids park is amazing. The cafe and staff are lovely. Let's hope like so many things the council now don't abandon it!

We miss the train and the adventure room but we do look forward to the new cafe and to continue watching the wildlife through the seasons. We love the landscape, the trees, the wildlife, the play area, the boardwalk, and the parking here at Brooklands. The new play area has looked almost finished for months now which is a great shame everytime we venture back and discover it still closed. Ever hopeful! This is still one of our favourite places to visit

I have chosen to Volunteer with The Friends Of Brooklands Park because the Park needs as much help as our Community can give be it Planting, Repairing or just generally keeping it clean or getting the lovely place cleaner. The Council do their very best but reality is finance is so stretched that Parks and Recreation are low down the list of demands.

I personally advised I want to clear debris strewn patches that have soil encroachment or over growth. One pathway has been flooded including sediment all Winter as its drain is blocked this path has been cleared by me but now needs desperate A&WDC Engineers to clear and repair the drain causing the issue. More people need to simply, politely ask the Council to do this, be fair and polite as we Volunteers see Council Staff under pressure to just get a few pounds for even simple projects. The Parks Manager or Warden works very hard to ensure Community Volunteer Projects are supported to ensure Groups in education or care get to come and learn whilst helping improve our Park. Twice each month Saturday Mornings and Wednesday Mornings the Volunteer organiser ensures some of her team are there to guide gently those who give their time.

For anyone this Park is changing , improving becoming a good key part to our Community, we can always use more help, people who might like me wish to take up a project or work on one area of this vast park they feel they could improve.

Do please get in touch with Friends Of Brooklands Park if like me you are wanting to give a few hours each month message or turn up on dates shown on our page. If you want to come and join me on my paths and entrances look out for me in my yellow volunteer vest. I will guide, talk to you as well as just accept whatever time you can give. We are a laid back group accepting of any help or time...

Brooklands Park is a disgrace, is a disgrace and insult to the People of Lancing and locals, the local Adur and Worthing council with all their talk of their master plan are quite happy to take away the facility's that are their long before their ridicules plan even gets off the drawing board, I walked across the golf couse today once the best par 3 in the county now a sad rejected facility with holes in the greens and dog mess in abundance could be up and running in no time, the go-carts due to close shortly on a whim of the council although they have had over a 3,000 petition to say this much loved and used facility. No cafe although the utilities are there on existing site, could rebuild low cost compared to resiting to new location involving a great deal of unnecessary expense, the paddling pool so inexpensive to get up an running and a sumer joy for kiddies and parents alike, and the park itself what can anyone say but just a disgrace, So much money spent to a company that puts their ideas for the park before the views of the people who use it. The Council have 800 public response to the park, go-carts have over 3000. Golf course 1000 and the train above 1000. So why are they not...

This is a lovely park for kiddies, there is a train that takes you around the park its £1.50 pp & the ride lasts about 8 minutes our Grandson loves it There is a great swing/climbing park which has 2 swings adapted for children in wheelchairs never seen that before. Also they have a huge ball & soft play bouncy castle trampolines for £1.00 per child for 20 minutes play time There are picnic tables & lots of grounds for playing football rounders frizbee This adventure park is a little gold mine of fun but don't leave it too long before you visit. The council won't invest in any of the activities there & come September it all shuts down and taken away council are washing their hands of it SHAME ON YOU COUNCIL the hours of outdoor fun & exercise the children get is worth keeping it open Hope common...
