Lancing has little to offer on its decimated high Street, really surprised to find this gem. Walk or drive past and you may think it another of the numerous fast food establishments, if it were not for the potted olive scrubs and lack of garish signage. Empty menu board and welcome mat on the pavement needs a little work as does the door self closer to avoid staff constantly having to close it themselves. It’s a cool, bright early spring evening on a Thursday in a deserted Lancing. A walk in surely….but no. Having not made a reservation we were lucky to be given the last table. Just. It’s not a large space with approx. 15 tables but was reserved out. Who knew. Fairly basic and light on the eye interior with robust furniture confuses if it a restaurant or a seaside eatery but probably has to cater to both. It’s Greek food and has no reason to pretend to be with a faux Greek interior. Menu hits all the spots, simple & straight forward layout with all the booze and juice options you would need. Delighted to have a Mythos. Ordered chops, Souvlaki & pawn dinners with a couple of starters. It’s packed and informed by the lovely owner of some delay, not a bother, they were moving. Have not eaten so well in Lancing, extremely good. They know how to cook. Perfect chops, meaty and when grilled, just a little burnt fat edges give it something extra. Souvlaki chunks juicy, Greek salad crisp, lovely, hummus very decent, vine leaves fine. All light, tasty, fresh and Greek. Family staff, friendly, efficient & faultless. Can hear many other table’s compliments. Excellent. Really. I’ll come again.

Was very curious to go, as I am Greek and wanted to taste their food. Staff was very kind, service was perfect. Nothing Greek about the decoration, apart from a picture and a wall paper. I expected bread on the table, as it happens in Greek restaurants always. Didn't get any. Olives were not Greek, but they were ok. Saganaki was nice and crispy. Chips were precooked/frozen... bit tasteless. Haloumi souvlaki was nice. Pork souvlaki, not bad but nothing special either. Thatziki was too mild, but I understand why. We paid 75 pounds for two people, got 2 drinks each and one desert at the end. Desert was Kantaifi... not impressed, it barely had any filling. They did bring us a shot of Bailey's at the end, which was nice. It was the kind of food you will eat in a low budget tavern in Greece, only more expensive. Not bad, not great either.

I had read so many glowing reviews and I was looking forward to eating here. However, it must have been a bad night for the chef. The starter of whitebait was very dark and exploded when the fork touched it, the calamari was nice and tender. Main course was seafood platter for two. Bass, bream, salmon, prawns, whitebait and calamari. All were dry and overcooked. The prawns were floury and stuck to the shells, there was no meat left in the bream just a deep fried crust, salmon dry and hard at the edges, bass just dry. The olives, potatoes and calamari were fine but at over £67 it was not the best dining experience. Maybe the meat dishes are better or it was just a bad night at the deep fat fryer but will not be going to find out. Sad.

We ate here for the first time last night (Friday 28th August 2015). I am sorry to say it was not the quality Greek food experience I was hoping for. There were 4 people in our party but I shall only comment on my own food choices: I had the Calamari to start ... this was in light batter, which was pale to the point of anaemic, soggy and totally lacking in any seasoning and therefore extremely bland. The 'salad' it was served with was a pathetic desert spoon size portion of very wilted old salad leaves with a sliver of tomato on top (no dressing); The service was rather too quick for our liking - some people might appreciate their plates being whisked away immediately after taking the last bite of the course but I found it unprofessional and it left us with a feeling of being 'rushed'. My main course choice was Arnisio: Chunks of lamb marinated in herbs & olive oil. This was very good and came with char-grilled pita bread, salad and (my choice of dip) houmous. The salad with this course was much fresher and interesting just as it should be. The lamb was delicious and very tender, albeit a little dry. I chose for my desert the Rizogalo: Greek style rice pudding sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with honey. This was delicious - served hot with a slightly mean drizzle of honey and sprinkled with cinnamon. Again, after courses 2 and 3 our plates were whipped away rather too promptly - we kind of felt we were being hovered over - it did not leave me feeling relaxed! The courses were reasonably priced. The restaurant itself was rather lacking in any atmosphere, even though there were four other tables occupied at the time. So, in all, a bit of a mixed bag ... I probably wouldn't rush to go back. I'd give it...

All I can do is apologise, apologise from the bottom of my heart!

Why we don't go to Meze-Meze more often... I think that is criminal and will likely hand myself into the police... Why?

Because Meze-Meze is outstanding! We are so fortunate to have this restaurant in our town, so from now, more visits will be happening!

We have been in a few times over the years but, this restaurant has it happening! The 2 biggest things that play a factor in the food provision industry - the quality of the food and the hosting skills...

Hope she won't mind me naming, but Sandra is absolutely terrific. Soooo welcoming, fun and makes you feel like you are present and part of the atmosphere... Then the food... Wow!

I had the moussaka, which was rich, flavourful and very enjoyable! I also shared chips and creamed leeks with the others at the table... Again, consistently fantastic!

Really urge anyone to give Meze-Meze a chance, give them a chance to wow you too - would happily book for literally any occasion...

Sandra - thank you so much and we are sorry that we haven't been as regularly, but this is changing and we will bring other along to experience your...
