Five Below — Attraction in Alabaster

Was just treated like I was stealing. Most confusing transaction of my entire life. A family used the self check out right next to me but the manager told me she would have to scan my items for me with no explanation at all. It was really embarrassing and confusing. I can only imagine it was because I had my son with me who was super calm and carrying a plush around that I insisted on us scanning first since it wasn't in my basket. If this is a new practice there needs to be a sign or a better explanation because as of right now it feels like people are being alienated for not wearing the right attire or just for simply having small children. All the self checkouts were closed except one, of course the person on that one was having an issue. The person who was watching the self checkout told us she would help us on the one register not marked as self checkout. She waited for me to hand her each item individually from my basket then walked away without saying anything once the payment screen came up. Just a weird experience.
