For the commencement ceremony, I was turned away from the security checkpoint for having a bag the size of a Harry Potter book, yet they allowed backpacks, several totebags, and even a rolling carry-on—all of which my bag could have easily fit into—with no issue.
The rule was that any bag larger than a clutch or not clear can’t be brought in. Yet these pictures show that the event staff at the entrance is unable to enforce its own bag policy reliably and simply cherry picks random bags so as to look like they’re doing their jobs.
Look at the bags in these photos. Can the Alaska Airlines Center honestly say that they enforced their “clutch or clear” bag policy? Can a security team that flouts its own rules be trusted to ensure no contraband passes...
Read moreLove this sports facility! Not as big as the Sullivan Arena, but it gets the spectators closer to the players. I've mostly attended Seawolves basketball and volleyball here. Fans get to know each other well enough to become friends, if they aren't already! Every seat is a good seat, even in the "nosebleed" area; not that far away. I haven't attended a concert here, but friends tell me sound is great. The running/walking track is very nice. I'm not a fan of the fast food concession, but there are fresh food and prepped food stands provided by the Varsity Grill that are tasty. Read moreThe Alaska Airlines Center is a really nice venue but has very questionable design issues. They host many concerts but have no foam to dampen reverb sound. I think the dumbest design is their cup holders: short, wide, and a hole in the bottom. Neither the bottled water or fountain cups from the concessions sit in the cup holder without tipping over.
