Inept institution. I had applied and deferred by application fee. Ultimately did not attend since their STEM program was lacking compared to most other colleges and just received a letter demanding immediate repayment of the fee. I'm happy to pay what's due. I called their office for payment. No answer - closed. I have no information on my accounts with them, nonexistant since I am not attending this college, so I cannot pay them online. I called again to ask about how to get an account to pay. No answer. I travel ALL THE WAY FROM KENAI, mind you, to go talk with them in person to sort it out since they will not answer their phones. I go to the student union building and am directed to the university center since that is where they have their billing... Closed again. I have my card at the ready but they are unwilling or unable to accept my money. I finally call the main school phone and talk with the operator and he says they are having an appreciation/training day. They are unwilling to accept payment, which I am more than willing to provide as I did apply and understand there was a fee. However, a year after I apply out of the blue they sent me this letter demanding payment or they would claim my PFD. Unacceptable. Inept institution there is no wonder why their budget is being slashed. What a racket.
Side note: Campus looks very new, nice and renovated. However, it's pretty sprawled out and confusing from an outsider perspective.
Not happy with them and am voicing concern for prospective students. Their monetary practices seem to...
Read moreI'm going through the UAA representative on base to get a math class started. After registering for it I am told that I need a degree plan for me to be able to take the class. So this being my first time ever taking a physical college class I believe that I'm not fully enrolled in this class just projected to join. I later decide that I don't want to go through UAA since I will be leaving soon and don't want to pursue an online education through them. I stop all attempts to get a degree plan and think that I'm all clear. Well I'm still technically taking the class, not once was I notified about anything to do with that class through any medium. I get an email saying I owe $694, they don't even tell me what for, which I dismiss as some spam or something. Next time better educate your representatives to give accurate, clear information to likely first time college goers. Also a "1 week no work turn in drop out" policy would be awesome so future people avoid my situation. This school sucks, don't attend here, they don't care about students obviously, not somewhere you want to dump 100,000 for an education knowing that this institution is getting that money instead of a university...
Read moreabsolutely the worst college I've been to. Parking is a joke even after paying for an expensive parking pass, still cant park during certain times in the day or if you're there too long you get fines all the time. I was told by the advisor for business that I shouldn't go to college because she didn't believe I was smart enough for college because I failed the first year. After writing a letter for approval explaining that my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer is the reason I failed the first year of college, she said she would accept me for the business degree but didn't even apologize for her attitude. I declined UAA for the second year and went to ALASKA PACIFIC UNIVERSITY. Where I currently got my associates in Accounting with a 3.0 GPA, and love the teachers I've had so far and my advisor keeps up to date with me and helps me every semester choosing classes. DONT GO TO UAA UNLESS NURSING OR ENGINEERING because that's apparently all they care about if you haven't seen the spending they use for those specific...
