The Ski Inn is a nice place to stay in the Girdwood area. While the rooms are small, we found them to be acceptable for our stay. We even enjoyed the common area and were fine with the light breakfast options offered. Our only issue was the service. Unfortunately we ran out of toilet paper, hand soap, and did not receive wash cloths one day. We did reach out and were able to get the wash cloths, however, we did not see any staff members for multiple days to help with other items needed. There appeared to be only one woman working there. She was friendly and helpful when she was around. We didn't want to constantly contact the owner for the things we needed, however, in some instances it was the only choice we had. We also became resourceful- like finding our own toilet paper and using hand sanitizer from the common room when we ran out of hand soap! The common room also ran out of plastic utensils causing us to wash and reuse one fork for stirring coffee, tea, and using the handle to spread cream cheese on a bagel. I'm not sure if summer is an off season for them and perhaps that had something to do with limited staffing. I'm hopeful this review can help management make changes with stocking items better to help other people who will stay here in the future. My husband really loved the area surrounding the inn, including the mercantile. Just better stocking items (utensils, toilet paper, hand soap or even a spare, offering a box of tissues, etc.) would have made this an...
Read moreWe may be a bit biased here as we both with my wife fell in love with Girdwood but I am trying to stay objective here, and the place really did deliver a very positive experience as well.||The building is super charming, and surrounded by the mountains in each direction - our 2nd floor Inlet room (aka Room #4), although super small (we knew in advance) had a really nice open view from the window and and immediate access from the hallway to the "outside" area where you could just sit down and chill. The curb appeal of this place is just to die for, for sure! Our small room had its own bathroom, though I know there are options here that came with a shared bathroom. The bed was good and we had a really nice sleep, very peaceful area in a small town.||There are some excellent food options in the area + a great brewery walking distance (the bridge leading to it with the little benches OMG amazing!).||We skipped the included breakfast and just went across the street at the Grind - I highly recommend it, quite a place with a character. There is a nice common area there but we didn't end up spending any time in it.||While in the area make sure to visit the Crow Creek Mine (reviewed separately) ||TIP: the entrance electronic system to the building and rooms is a bit of a novelty but once you get used to it it works perfectly fine (some people struggled during our check in, so did we but we got lucky to still bump into a person at the...
Read moreYou will hear everything. We “got” to hear the couple on first floor having some very long s$x and lots of moaning and groaning, the cruise ladies next to our room woke us up talking at 5 am (they weren’t particularly loud), and heard someone on first floor (we were on second floor) ringing the doorbell incessantly when they couldn’t figure out the front door lock to get in at 11pm. Take earplugs. Apart from that, it is an excellent value for your money. IT is in an adorable area with great food options across the street. Super cute spot to stay. If you can take earplugs and don’t mind a room that is a foot wider than the bed on each side and 2.5 feet longer than the bed, you’ll be happy (we were in south facing room). The people staying here are nice, community kind of people. We had a great time meeting others in the common area which is very nice and comfy and has stocked juices, waters, snacks, etc. which was very helpful. We were also able to store our fish we caught in the...
