Valley of the Moon has this giant rocket that thing has been around my entire time I've ever been here in anchorage. Deep in a moment of Blues I like to go down there and relish parts of my childhood and climb a little bit on the rocket as well as the roped structure. Right next door through the tunnel on the east side of Valley of the Moon there is a little duck Park. That place is also very special to me. There is at least two spots to set up a good barbecue location with a pre-installed barbecuer. As well as a couple trash cans. One of the things that I like about this park is that it's very easy to pull in and find parking it's literally just on the side of the road. And a lot of local activities happen here, a lot of Na and AA events happen here, as well as feeding homeless events and there was a lot of activity on the 4th of July this year. Alongside the whole park runs Chester Creek don't go in the water it is a little bit dirty and smells like duck poop, very little trash and litter laying around, and the homeless where flushed out this year, so limited homeless hanging around. There were a number of homeless people in tents up on a ledge, above the path toward Westchester; couldn't see them but could hear them and that's how i looked and saw the tents. I had originally wanted to walk that bike trail parked in the little lot by the Westchester pond, but there were two wrecked up vehicles with people in them so i didn't feel safe to leave my car there. And, I would have felt safer at the Valley of the Moon side if i was not...

Restrooms were locked at the time but there were portapotties. Amenities included: Fenced in dog park, playground, open grass area, exposed and sheltered picnic tables, benches, paved walking / biking paths. Part of the path runs along side a quickly-moving, but shallow creek.
There were some homeless tents and discarded alcohol containers along the wooded part of the path. Otherwise, the area felt safe and clean during the day.
There is a medium-sized parking lot but it was nearly full when we were there on a weekday...
