Chocolaterie Stam Altoona — Attraction in Altoona

It took me going elsewhere to realize how good we have it.

Whenever we go to a mall here in dsm I take my daughter and wife to the chocolate store. I buy them a few little sweets. They savor them we laugh and life is good. Honestly it is so honest and pure and sweet it will make people mad.

That being said we sent on vacation and tried to carry on the tradition at a different mall with a different chocolaterie. It was aweful.

At Stam we are blessed with a cozy setting, kind polite staff and amazingly rich, sweet, savory, ooey-gooey, concoctions that ensnare the taste buds and are a delight to behold.

The prices are so reasonable and the entire experience is so much better than those other chocolate stores with sky high prices and chocolates that taste like they were just defrosted (and not defrosted well) from the back before we ate...

I am a chocolate person. I get quality chocolate wherever and whenever I can all over the country. That being said, I feel I can say with some degree of authority that this place is just alright overall. Really hit and miss. The one thing I did love was the cocoa truffle. If everything was that delightful, I would 100% be giving a 5 star rating. But it wasn’t. The marzipan truffle was my least favorite. It tasted like almond extract and I couldn’t even finish it. I didn’t love the creamed butter truffle or any of the other several chocolates I selected. I did quite enjoy the caramel and would totally go back for that and the cocoa truffles. My kids liked the gelato. The Mexican vanilla gelato was too sweet and artificial tasting fine my liking and it wasn’t super cheap. That said, I’m glad I took the risk. The cocoa truffle will live on...

1 counter worker doesn't cut it .... we waited and waited, and waited, until we finally realized we don't have 45 mins to wait and the more people came in, the more chaotic things got.... help me make sense why 1 worker the day before Thanksgiving!!! Staff shortage? There were at least 25 people in the little 200sq ft establishment and 1 worker..... we both wanted some chocolate pretty bad, so we SETTLED for fudge from bass pro shop.... should have chosen the valley...
