As another site maintained by Amesbury Improvement Association, the current iteration of Alliance Park was restored by the organization in 1920 after a fire in 1918 burned down the original wharf. The park is named after the frigate Alliance, a warship built during 1777 and 1778 at the order of the Continental Congress. Also in the park is a plaque “dedicated to the memory of the ship and boat builders on the Powow and Merrimac Rivers” erected as part of the 325th anniversary celebration for the incorporation of Amesbury.

Love it. Nice place to bring a snack or pack a lunch. Very small but relaxing to look out over the water, enjoy the breeze and watch the people and boats. Only like 5 or 6 car parking spots fyi.

Very pretty and calm, but no kids playground. It’s fine, but google search results stated there was a playground.

Not really much to it. A little thumbnail of a park, really, parklet if you will but kept tidy and clean. Small parking lot is a little difficult to get in and out of with the road right behind it.

Benches sit riverside so you can watch the water flow. Saw a bunch of dogwalkers using the park so their pets can releave themselves, so I don't know about sitting on the grass for a picnic.

All in all, though, a nice little spot for a short respite on a sunny day.

No restrooms or really any amenity other than grass, trees...

Amazing views of the Merrimack river. Great spot for a picnic. There are tables and a grassy area if you prefer sitting on a blanket on the ground. Nice place to just sit and collect your thoughts. It is one of my favorite places...
