What a neat view of both Anacortes and the water way heading out of the Marina. This over look has a unique view of the Skagir low lands, Cascade mountains, Mt Baker and several of the adjacent islands. The refinery is also unavoidable from your view unfortunately, but it is kind of neat seeing the massive oil ships at anchor, or as they come and go. Makes for some wild time lapse opportunities, specifically at sunset. The rocks are fun to walk around on, but be careful, a fall or twisted ankle is bound ti happen here. Read moreVERY cool!! Just outside of town at the top of a very beautiful lookout. Panoramic views, generally looking south, of the water, the industrial district and the nearby marinas. Very impressive! Saw several deer on both the way up and on the way down. Just so happened to be only one other vehicle there when we arrived. We were pleasantly surprised! Beware: LOTS of wind! Blowing up the cliff directly at you regardless of which side of the bluff you're on. We were there on a 75 degree day and it was very refreshing. On a cooler day it could be quite cold. Free. Watch for deer on the way up, the road is narrow and a little steep, going up and coming down I saw 2 deer feeding right along the road. Once at the top, parking can be tight.. but if you go off peak times it’s not bad at all. Watch children, it’s very rocky and wouldn’t be a good fall. Going at sunset is the best time.
