"Trouble In Paradise" is very good escape room! The sets are high-quality (it makes you feel like you're in a hotel lobby). The props were clean and well-placed. The puzzles were almost exclusively logic puzzles. If you love logic puzzles, this is the room for you! The experience was high-quality from beginning to end. It was easy to find the puzzles, figure out what you're supposed to do, and then figure out where to input your answer. It is a very clean, well thought out escape room. There was also some special effects that really impressed us. I won't spoil them here.
As far as criticisms go, there is one minor and major. There was a rope puzzle that suffered a bit from the layout of the set (the set interfered with the puzzle) but it was relatively easy to overcome. It did't ruin the puzzle.
The one and only large criticism I have is one that is shared with many other escape rooms: There was nowhere to sit in the room. I know there is a school of thought among some escape room owners that having seating somehow reduces the fun and excitement of the room. I don't know that I agree, but that doesn't really matter. The reality is, there are people who cannot stand for an hour straight, for a variety of reasons. There are people with a vast array of medical conditions who should not (or who find it painful to) stand for an hour. Someone in our group, for example, has two herniated discs in his back. There are also some senior citizens who might want to join in on the fun, but who cannot stand for that long. I know some owners say that including seating ruins their set design, but the theme of this room is a hotel lobby. Hotel lobbies have seating. A simple bench against one wall would solve the problem.
Besides that single issue, this escape room is high-quality and a lot of fun. I highly recommend it, especially if you love...
Read moreTLDR: Around the World in 80 days is a logic puzzle, after logic puzzle, after logic puzzle game. Wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone that enjoys escape rooms unless you really like logic puzzles and logic puzzle only.
Would be hesitant to go back to do any of the other rooms. I’ve completed over 200 rooms and I am an avid enthusiast. The Around the World in 80 days is less of an escape room and more like a room littered logic puzzles and instances where you have to use math (even though it’s addition and subtraction) . Each section of the room has a specific amount of time (that you can’t see) so if you’re finishing up a puzzle, you may be forced to move on. The game master gave the instructions but could have been better about making sure you work on certain puzzle before other because it’s not a very gratifying ending. If you are a group of people that like to do logic puzzle after logic puzzle for an hour. This is your game. If you’re looking for something that is more like an actual escape room, steer clear. Also I find it very unusual you have to pay for 6 people for a booking. That seems super excessive.
I’ve given three stars based on that there was no warning when booking that this room is not like a typical escape room. I’ll give it to them that the cool part of the room is the theming and the electronics...
