I cannot fully describe the force with which the food at Tmaz brought me back to life. This place has it all.

You walk in to an unassuming space with the kind of loved in mismatched furniture that tells you this place is gonna be good.

Ordering your food can be somewhat of a wait, as it's done in the same fast food style as other taquerias. It's well worth it though.

All items are a la cart, because the owners are savvy af. I got the quesadilla with chorizo, two tacos de carne asada y fried pork. They come with standard embellishments (cilantro, lime, onion, and hot sauce) and any added fixings are $0.25 a pop. All their prepared sides looked amazing, but I substituted for a bag of the worlds most loved and then regretted chips: Takis Fuego.

If this wasn't enough, I glanced over to their dessert display and was aghast to see not one, but two flavors of Tres Leches™ Cake, in vanilla and chocolate. They're definitely big enough pieces to share, but moist enough that you won't want to.

Before I could even pay for my food I locked eyes with the row of Sidral Mundet apple pops, and of course got two.

When I finally carried my tray of food from the counter to my high top seat and began taking selfies, I realized a row of piñatas hung behind me and decided to officially move into this place. This before I saw the familiar racked trays of pan dulce and other Mexican sweets lining the center of one of the seating rooms.

Overall, I think this restaurant added 3 years to my expected life span so it goes without saying that I thought it was okay. Jplay, it changed my life.

My son and I had to find a place to eat near the movie theater and he wanted tacos so we stopped here after looking on google. The entrance was confusing cuz its kids part of 3 different buildings so we felt kinda silly. We knew no Spanish but the guy at the counter was super nice even with little language barrier. Food was amazing, the Mexican ice cream was outstanding and A perfect treat. Best part was the same gentleman who took our order came to our table and offered two Mexican candies to my son for free. This place isn't a 5-star look but the way you get treated was definitely 5 stars and hope to stop in there Again in the future.

P.s the man at the register in my photo is the reason id go back again. Super nice and caring

I was thoroughly let down by my experience here. I'd been told this Taqueria was a gem of a hole-in-the-wall for quality, flavorful Mexican fare. Instead, I walked through what I thought was the front door into a dingy room with no one in it, when the majority of the actual restaurant was the next room over.

Nothing about the entire restaurant or food preparation area seems very clean. The prices are outrageous for what you actually get (flavorless food), and you get nickel and dimed for all of the extras (understandable for something guac, but extra just for cheese or sour cream? come on...).

The food: In a word, flavorless. Well, aside from the chorizo, which tasted heavily of vinegar and some unknown hot sauce (but didn't actually taste like chorizo at all). The tortillas (which each taco gets two?...) are relatively flavorless, and lightly grilled (only for temperature? there didn't seem to be much texture change). Their refried beans have cut up hotdogs in them, and are quite watery. The rice has peas and carrots in it, which sounds fantastic, but you can't really taste it.

3 (flavorless) tacos + rice/beans and a water... almost $15. I don't think I'll ever come back here. Spend your...

I hate leaving bad reviews but I have to after this one. I ordered one steak taco, one tostada and chips and pick de Gallo. The taco was just ok, the tostada had what seemed to be old crusty beans, soft tomatoes and bad lettuce. The $6 pico and chips topped it all. See pics below; cold, broken up pieces of old hard tortillas. Absolutely disgusting. I ate the taco, took bite of the tostada, laughed at the chips and threw the rest in the trash. I came here because of the good reviews and the pics online but won’t come back. That was a waste of $20 and I am still hungry. I am also mildly concerned about getting food poisoning after seeing their food prep station and the way some of the ingredients at this place look. Yuck!

Ordered a carnitas taco. 1) it wasn't fried. 2) it had so many fatty pieces, not edible. Also ordered a tinga quesadilla and was given a veggie quesadilla. But by far the grossest thing was the churrasco wrap. The picture on the menu does not even represent what is given to you. It was a bunch of mayo with some soupy, store bought coleslaw, and a few pieces of unseasoned steak meat. It's crazy to me that people find this place good. Service was very slow, their dining area was sketchy, and the chips was so not tasty. Take the extra drive and go to S.W. Detroit for the real deal.
