ArtFarm — Attraction in Annapolis

Reflex Improv classes @ ArtFarm- Before taking the Reflex Improv intro class, I described myself as introverted, full of social anxiety, and fearful of any situation that required me to show up or speak publicly. I have never participated in a theatre/drama class of any kind, but several colleagues suggested I find an improv class based on my reluctance to speak up in meetings. So, in a moment of insane bravery, I signed up for the intro class and it was the best decision I’ve made…maybe ever. That first class was scary. I didn’t know anyone and nothing was familiar, but everyone was nice so I kept going and every time I went I learned something new, trusted my classmates more, and found courage that seeped into other parts of my life. I’m a different person now than when I nervously shuffled into that first class and the great thing is, everyone in my class had a different reason for being there and a unique energy. Improv seems to be for everyone - the socially anxious, extroverted, shy, funny, and the ones who wonder if they’re funny enough. It’s so much more than trying to come up with the next joke, it’s relationship/trust building, being present and mindful, learning to say ‘yes,’ and going with the flow over which you have little control. I wish I could give the gift of improv to everyone I’ve ever met. It’ll change your perspective on the world...

Being a lifelong artist and musician, and having an 11 year old artistic daughter, I can say this is one of the best organizations around to engage and broaden a young artistic mind. My daughter has been to many art based establishments. She has been attending classes at ArtFarm for years and loved every one of them. I love everything ArtFarm is doing. From the classes offered, to the special events (that will no doubt return post Covid); ArtFarm boasts an inspiring message of empowerment and creativity. I’ve both taken classes and taught classes and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience on both sides. The range of classes offered is wonderfully unique and absolutely affordable.
