I attended the 2023 Annual Meeting of Lake Erie Yearly Meeting [LEYM] of the Religious Society of Friends [Quakers], 6-15-2023 to 6-18-2023, at Ashland University.
Approximately 100 Quakers from Ohio, Michigan, western Pennsylvania, and elsewhere gathered for three days at Ashland University for Meetings for Worship, Meetings for Business, plenary speakers, workshops, and other community-building events.
For many consecutive years, the LEYM Annual Meeting had met "in person" at Bluffton University [in Bluffton, Ohio]; that location is not able to host outside conferences at this time.
We were welcomed to Ashland University on Thursday evening, during our opening business session, by a tornado warning that had sounded alarms on our cell phones and had sent many of us to the basement.
After that tornado warning had expired, we re-convened briefly and then there was a second tornado warning so we decided to adjourn for the evening.
The Ashland Center for Nonviolence is located on the Ashland University campus. On Friday morning, many of us visited that center during a morning-long open house.
On Friday afternoon, "Navigating Nonviolence: Faith and Practice," a panel discussion with the interim director of the Ashland Center for Nonviolence, ecumenical religious leaders from the Ashland area, and LEYM Friends, was held.
Ashland University provided to LEYM a friendly and welcoming environment for our three-day long...
Read moreI honestly discourage anyone from attending if you appreciate a diverse and accepting environment. As a nursing student, I advise future nursing students to not trust the faculty (not all of them are bad but there are only a few who sincerely help you). As a student your opinions or reviews are not taken into consideration. The Nursing program is great but trust me, you basically need to study everything outside of class time. It’s a waste of time to attend lecture as the exams are not based of lecture notes for some classes.
You literally have only two chances with practicum to fail a class and you only get two class failures. These practicum makes are usually scheduled at the end of the semester, so I advise everyone to actually make sure these instructors teach and do their job during lab hours and open lab ( open labs are usually during lecture times or clinical time or some days they may be cancelled...
Read moreHorrible University with a staff that has no care for its students. They will rip financial aid out from under you even when you should be allowed to have it. Or worse change the Financial aid requirement mid year and make someone owe tens of thousands of dollars. You then get on a payment plan but then they update those terms as well so then they send it to collections. Again without saying a word. School is very unethical and does not deserve to be in business. It will be reported to the BBB and the Dept of Education to stop this school from stealing money from...
