I’ve been coming here since I’ve been six years old. Since Greg McGarity started a fire to make Sanford stadium more user-friendly to fans. and Brooks Austin The current athletic Director at Georgia has taken that vision and approved on it.Light up Sanford is one of my favorite traditions. But you always feel it in your heart with the pregame. Traditions it really starts to hit you when you hear a Larry Munson especially since we won a national championship. But it’s a place for only real Georgia know about if you really want to see what college footballs made of or how much college football means to one state. Come to a home game here. But then again these home games are a rarity is the only happens seven times a year. There like music festivals. But from someone who lives in Atlanta it’s like making a day trip over there to Athens GA. But I know a lot of people come to Athens from farther distances like Savannah and Thomasville The distance is like Foxborough to Boston is Athens to Atlanta. I’m really hoping that he local governments state government. Or corporate enterprises working with government make a train that can go from Atlanta to Athens. I feel like that would open up things a little bit especially for me who is a big-time Georgia fan. But I use the convenience of living in Atlanta to get around but it’s a little harder for me to get outside of the bubble. But I find a way to make it work but I want it to be easier. Because I would go to Athens more often if there was a train that could take me there. The only thing I wish they would change is the concession stand prices but they usually have their concession stand workers or from different organizations around Athens like churches and baseball teams. So I like that The community gets to benefit office games. Overall great experience especially after a...

“Glory, glory to ole’ Georgia.
Heroes have graced the field before you. Men with hearts, bodies and minds for which the entire Bulldog Nation can be justifiably proud. The tradition of unbridled excellence demonstrated by these individuals and many others spans more than a full century.
And now a new breed of Bulldawg stands ready to take the field of Battle. To assume the reigns of their Georgia forebearers. To continue that tradition. Understanding that there is no tradition more worthy of envy. No institution worthy of such loyalty as The University of Georgia.
As we prepare for another meeting between the hedges let all the Bulldawg faithful rally behind the men who now wear the red and black with two words. Two simple words that express the sentiments of the entire Bulldawg Nation…GO DAWGS!”
This is one of the few gateways to Heaven. Stunning, beautiful and well-maintained. Sanford Stadium is a must- see on a trip to Athens, GA and UGA. It is one of the largest on-campus stadiums in the country and is kept in beautiful repair. The UGA bulldog mascots are entombed here after they pass.It boasts an enormous end zone screen, ample bathrooms, concessions, a food plaza and is constantly being renovated and upgraded to enhance the gameday experience. If you make it to a game get ready to engage in a “Georgia”- “Bulldogs” cheer as the North and South yell at each side. Additionally, pull your phone out with the flashlight on at the beginning of the 4th quarter as we claim the 4th...
Read moreSanford Stadium in Athens, Georgia is one of the most electric and iconic college football venues in the country. From the moment you walk through the gates, you feel the energy of SEC football and the pride of the University of Georgia. The stadium is built right into the campus, so you’re surrounded by UGA’s history, tailgates, and the classic southern college town atmosphere.
Inside, the views are incredible no matter where you sit. The bowl layout is steep enough that it keeps the crowd right on top of the field, and when the Dawgs make a big play, the noise is unreal. It’s not just loud—it’s almost vibrating energy. “Calling the Dawgs” before kickoff is something every college football fan should experience at least once.
Concessions are pretty good for a stadium this size, and the staff usually keeps lines moving. Restrooms are clean for the volume they handle, and they’ve made improvements over the years. Parking can be tough (it’s a college campus after all), but the walk in isn’t bad and you get to soak in that Athens charm on the way.
Night games especially are something special—Under the Lights in Sanford feels like SEC football at its finest.
Overall, Sanford Stadium is a must-visit. Tradition, passion, and a game day atmosphere few places can match. Whether you’re a Georgia fan or just a fan of the sport, there’s nothing like a Saturday in Athens....
