Top notch park! Free to use! Split into 2 sections. Be sure to park in the correct area, there are two entrances off 2 different roads. The section off Whit Davis Rd has the dog park and kids park. The section off Hwy 78 has the sports fields, tennis courts, and skate park. A path through the woods connects the 2 areas (half mile or so).
The dog park has a field for small dogs and a separate area for large dogs. Nice area with water for the dogs. It's a good size for the dogs to run. The only negative is there isn't any shade, avoid it during the middle of the day.
Great park for kids. Spacious with a large play area and bathrooms close by.
The opposite portion of the park has several fields for baseball and soccer. It also has a concession area but I'm unsure when it is open, probably for local tournaments. The half dozen tennis courts are in good condition and can be reserved.

They should really rename the sides because you get two totally different experiences depending on the side you're on-Whit Davis side (WOW (World of Wonder) playground and dog park, walking trails) or Lexington side (sports fields, skate park, walking track, very small playground). We love both sides, but if we go to the Lexington side we bring our own activities to take advantage of the wide-open fields and large concrete spaces--bubbles, sidewalk chalk, baseball and mitts, soccer ball, frisbee, jump rope, bikes, and the kids chase birds. There is a covered picnic area by the small playground. WOW only has tables in the sun. Both sides have bathrooms. The Lexington bathrooms are a bit nicer and more spacious.
