East Athens Marketplace — Local services in Athens-Clarke County Unified Government

A lot of the reviews for this shopping center are for other shopping centers-Ollie's, CVS, Goodwill, and laundromat are at Willowwood, and there is no BB&B near here. Aldi is in the Village at Cedar Shoals shopping center. I'm not just rating the stores here. The parking lot is sketchy at night. Just last night when I went into Wal-Mart there was some intense yelling in the lot with people watching from the storefront. When I came back out, there were two more groups of people loitering in different parts of the lot "talking" so loudly you could hear them two and five rows away, cursing at each other, and I didn't stick around long enough to see what the results of that were. There needs to be security. The stores should get a 5 overall, but the parking lot makes me afraid to shop here after dark. Wal-Mart and Rainbow are great places to shop, the ladies in Rainbow are especially sweet. The Hardee's is ok, the only time I visited the food was great but I was overcharged and the food came out slowly. Golden Sun is #1, I will love them and their deals forever. The Little Caesar's hot n' ready is like eating cardboard with cheese on it. Just go get a $6 16" refrigerated pizza from the Aldi on Cedar Shoals, it's much, much better and with more toppings. City Gear: A new trendy clothing and shoe store in the Athens area for name brand items. From Puma, Nike, Jordan, Adidas and more. It's a small store with limited selection but a nice variety and multiple sizes from youth to XL adult. It is more associated to northern style wear which is great for my son and I as we are from NY originally. They have good sales and updates on the latest designer shoes with member notification and discounts if you'd like. The customer service is minimal but friendly when they do, manager seems knowledgeable and upbeat the few times we've been there. I'd recommend taking a look and buying the new fashion from here especially for footwear....

We go camping 3-4 times a year near here and actually love coming to this Walmart. The staff are very helpful and there's always tons of what we need; some we don't but purchase anyway! Its always neatly organized and clean. They were off a bit on the cleanliness for Christmas stuff, but when items go on sale like after the holidays, for some reason shoppers think its necessary to destroy the shelves. The Walmart person was feverishly trying to keep it neat and tidy, but their attemps were fruitless. Completely NOT their fault. And we found some last minute gift ideas for an upcoming bday!
