2023: On my most recent visit, a Sunday afternoon, the automatic lights weren't working in the women's bathroom, so you have to press the button. Also, the bathroom was disgusting, unidentified liquid all around the toilet, no toilet paper, so be prepared. Playground is still in great shape. 2022: Best playground in Athens. It's huge, with the tallest slide around! Fenced in with sturdy gate, nice concrete loop for walking, pushing stroller, or using a wheel chair. Grassy hill, plenty of seating near the play areas. Two separate play structures for different age groups. Picnic tables, water fountain specifically for filling bottles and one for drinking. The bathrooms are near the entrance, so be prepared to take a hike when your kid needs to go; they are far from the play structures. They usually don't have soap and there's only two stalls. There is a baby changing table in the women's bathroom, not sure about the men's. It could definitely use more swings! You usually have to wait for a turn, but two of the swings seat an adult and child. Very cool! No dogs allowed, but there is a huge dog park here on the other side of the parking area. You can walk the trail through the woods to the side of the park on Lexington Rd. that has skate park, tennis courts, soccer and baseball fields, nice large paved walking loop, small playground, and more bathrooms. Tennis center is right beside that side of the park before you get to Cornerstone Church. If you found this review helpful, please give it a...
Read moreFavorite playground I've visited. Well worth driving an extra 15-20 minutes out of out way to visit here, as opposed to our nearby parks. It's a huge fenced in (which when used properly, with the main gate entrance/exit being closed by the adults going in & out, serves to give the kids freedom, & let parents relax) playground/play area - with three separate areas for different ages of children! With a ton of different slides, ropes, climbing areas, and bridges There are picnic tables, numerous benches, sidewalks in between play places and around the whole playground - for walking laps or kids to ride bikes, scooters, or skates. There's a public restroom, and water fountain. It's also equipped with swings for kids of all ages, including specially abled children, as well as a couple bench swings for the adults to enjoy. And a large grassy area for more...
Read moreWe've been pleased with the new addition with complaints narrowing down to two. 1. There are no benches for parents to sit on on several sides of the playground equipment. My friends and I who have small children usually end up sitting in the mulch next to the "balance beam", which would be the perfect spot for some benches. 2. There is a very large "rock" connecting some of the new structures without any guard rails or protection. It is such a large and tall structure, I have found it not age appropriate at all.
Positives include fencing with a gate, picnic tables, water fountains with a water bottle filling station, exciting new playground elements, good swings,...
