Okay here is the truth from a student perspective!! This building is massive and I believe there could be so much potential for the space usage in the building. I highly recommend getting more free weight equipment. They only offer a few squats racks and free space in the free weight room and it’s not enough space for the student body here. There’s tons of time I’ve experienced where no one has room to lift and has to stand around and wait. I prefer to workout elsewhere at this point because it is so busy. I recommend transforming some of the basketball courts into more weight rooms. Also, please get more benches because 90% of the time there is none and my workout is completely disrupted. I don’t believe I have followed a workout plan the way I truly want due to the machinery available. Also, I would really enjoy another leg press machine, OU only has one where you adjust the weight with plates. 99% of the time I don’t get to use that machine because it’s occupied for 30+ minutes by the user, which is understandable. OU can do better with this facility and it would improve many peoples perspective on...
Read moreIf you’re fitness positive, do not enroll at Ohio University. There is not enough equipment for the entire school. There needs to be at least a doubling of equipment or another entire gym. I have no clue why they haven’t added equipment, everything is so spaced out. Even when the gym isn’t slammed, a quarter of all the equipment is broken. For example, there has been one functioning cable pull down machine on the first floor since I was a freshmen. I am now into my second semester sophomore year and they haven’t been fixed. Even the functioning equipment is shaky. Good luck if you want run some basketball. You better know everyone on your random team because shirts vs. skins is strictly forbidden. If you don’t live in the dorms you better put on your walking shoes. The parking lot in front of the gym is private parking until 7 pm. And they do ticket, tow, and/ or...
Read moreThe only nice thing I have to say is that the staff is friendly. But otherwise, this place is absolutely awful. It is 100% too small for the massive amounts of students that want to go. 5 squat racks for 30,000 students? Not to mention, it is gross. NO ONE wipes down anything in the main weight room. There is not enough of literally anything to have an efficient workout & the equipment in the main weight room breaks so often, it’s probably hazardous to use. As a student, I consider spending my money to go to a...
