Just got publicly embarrassed by trainers at this location.
I worked out for a few hours with my friends. I left before them to get the car and warm it up, (it was a cold day), when I got a phone call from my friend. Apparently he was stopped by Rob and Chris, two directors at this location. They accused my friend, in front of the entire gym that I was paying him to train me. That was completely incorrect. My friends and I had regularly attended this location and worked out together. However the directors, Rob and Chris, told my friend that I TOLD THEM that I paid my friend to train me, which was a blatant lie. Offense #1: They lied and put words in my mouth which were not true.
Instead of apologizing once we explained that we were friends and just work out together often, they threatened to cancel our gym memberships and THROW US OUT OF THE GYM. We did nothing wrong. Instead we were wrongly accused and then told that WE would be the ones thrown out of the gym and punished by having our memberships terminated. Offense #2: Failing to Apologize.
All the time this was happening, we were in the middle of the gym. EVERYONE was staring and ogling us. The implication was absolutely clear. The reason they thought my friend was "Training" me, is because his fitness level was higher than mine. I had never felt so humiliated in my life. They implied that there was no way we could be friends. There was no way my friend could possibly work out with someone like me if there wasn't money involved. Offense #3 Public Humiliation
We left eventually, after trying to make our case, but were deemed "rowdy" and kicked out of the gym. I will definitely never be returning to this location. I will definitely never patronize LA Fitness again. I will definitely tell everyone I know to steer clear from...
Read moreThis place doesn't deserve even a 1 star. Today I was publicy shamed at this LA Fitness by fitness trainers Rob and Chris. I worked out with my fiance and three friends. My fiance' has been working out for years so he came with us for the workout. We all did the same workouts, but my fiance' gave us tips on technique in between his sets. We all noticed Chris and Rob hovering around us while we worked out, but we didn't know why they were watching us.
My fiance left the lockeroom to leave the gym and Chris and Rob cornered him and accused him of being our personal trainer for pay. They asked him, "So are you training your friends?" He said, "Yes, I'm helping them because they are new to the gym." Chris and Rob responded, "Well, your friends said they are paying you. We are making a note on your account and if you do it again you will be suspended from LA Fitness." This was a COMPLETE LIE. No one in our group ever said they were paying my fiance'. They told my fiance' he is not allowed to help people in the gym.
My fiance clearly stated that he has no credientials as a personal trainer and Chris's response was, "I remember helping my friends for a little extra pay on the side while I was getting my certification." Plain disrespect and bold faced lies!
Everyone in the gym turned to watch this spectacle and it really embarassed us because we are new to the gym and not exactly in the best shape. Just because my fiance' is fit, it must be against gym rules for him to associate with people that aren't in shape! At LA Fitness, it's seem to be against the rules to workout with friends!
None of us will be able to come back to this gym because of the public embarassment. I've never seen such bold faced lies and disrespect and over something so simple as friends working...
Read moreThe cancellation process is extremely convoluted and LA Fitness has been taking money from me for months. I've requested to cancel but I get many ridiculous responses from employees and staff that I'm not able to cancel online nor in person. When asked if I could cancel in person on a Saturday, they told me that I wouldn't be able to cancel until during the week. Not only that, but they said that they could only cancel when their manager was present between 9-5 which is difficult for me because I am working those hours and can't get off work and I live far away from any LA Fitness now. They said they couldn't do anything for me except to go online to print a form to mail it in to the corporate office to cancel my subscription. After some discussion with the highest level person at the gym, they were only able to print the form for me and still requested I send the cancellation request via mail. I went home and did this immediately. No confirmation that they cancelled my request and noticed they've still been taking my money for several months now. This is after I requested to cancel early in the pandemic only to tell me that they'll put my membership on pause instead. They released that pause and didn't inform me that they're continue to charge me. At a minimum, they need a confirmation email of the charges to make their customers aware of this. I absolutely do not recommend using LA Fitness unless you want to cancel by having your credit card company decline their transactions. I've reported this to BBB to ensure others are aware of the inability for...
