First Avenue Playhouse Dessert Theatre — Attraction in Atlantic Highlands

Just home from this evening's performance of The Mouse Trap at First Avenue Playhouse and it was Smart, Witty and Well done. Though we in the audience may have found more humor than the cast may have expected, trust me we were laughing with you and not at you. Having performed in and directed dozens of Comedies, I can safely tell you that well written Comedy should be played straight and the humor and laughter will be there. Though I don't think Ms Christie is known for her knee slapping Comedy, there is always a line of light heartedness in almost every show. When a Cast is comfortable and trust each other their is a lighter aire to the performance and some time a glance or in the moment line delivery can be naturally humorous one night and ominous another. Tonight the humor was there and the Confident and Skilled cast was not thrown by our unexpected laughs but took us on a journey that breathed a life into this 70 year old script that made us all enjoy a trip to Monkswell Manor that many may not have encountered. I highly recommend find an opportunity attending one of the remaining performances Bravo...

Very enjoyable evening at First Avenue Playhouse with Mary and Bob Cleary. We enjoyed the musical Springtime on Broadway directed by Bethany Miranda. Produced by David Conover with a very funny Intro by Grace Emley The staff led by Judy and Debbie were very friendly and the dessert and coffee were delicious. I recommend strongly the First Avenue Playhouse for anyone looking for an evening of laughs and yummy desert. PS Watch out for Leslie Hochman and Dave Harris two talents...

This is a well run, boutique theater. Many of the plays are originals and all are well acted. It is filled with tables that have seating for 4 and the folks sitting at our table have always been great. No table has bad viewing,or is located too far from the stage to hear the lines clearly.
