Lenape Woods Nature Preserve — Attraction in Atlantic Highlands

While not a huge parcel like the nearby Hartshorne Woods, this is a hilly woodland gem offering several marked trails with good elevation changes. You are usually in sight of bordering homes and apartment complexes, but there are some relatively isolated portions. Some of the less tred trails were a bit overgrown and would need to wear pants to walk to prevent risk of ticks.

Accurately named, this land was the Lenape's, with records of them appearing from along Highlands at the time of the explorations of Verazanno and Hudson.
