I recently had the pleasure of visiting Smodcastle Cinemas and I must say, it was an absolutely phenomenal experience! From the moment my wife and I stepped foot into the theater, we knew we were in for something special.

The evening kicked off with a live auction for the cinema, adding an exciting and unique touch to the overall atmosphere. The energy in the room was infectious, and we found ourselves eagerly participating in the bidding frenzy.

But that was just the beginning! The real highlight of the night was getting to see "The Flash" with none other than the talented director/actor Kevin Smith himself. As the lights dimmed and the movie began, I couldn't help but notice that Kevin Smith was seated just a row up and to the left, accompanied by his daughter, Harley. It was a surreal moment to be in such close proximity to someone I admire, and it truly added to the magic of the evening.

Despite my excitement, I wanted to be respectful of the movie-going experience for everyone, so I refrained from interrupting or bothering Kevin Smith. However, his mere presence elevated the atmosphere, and it felt like we were sharing this incredible movie-watching journey together.

Although I had to miss the Q&A session afterward due to work commitments, I am eagerly looking forward to attending another event at Smodcastle Cinemas in the future. The entire experience was well worth it, and I can't wait to see what other amazing screenings and special guests they have in store.

The staff at Smodcastle Cinemas deserves special recognition for their exceptional hospitality. They were friendly, attentive, and made sure everyone felt comfortable throughout the entire evening. The banter and humor that permeated the theater added an extra layer of enjoyment to the entire event.

If you're a fan of great movies, captivating experiences, and the opportunity to be part of something truly special, I wholeheartedly recommend Smodcastle Cinemas. It's a place where movie lovers can come together and create unforgettable memories. Trust me, you won't want to miss out on this cinematic gem!

Thank you, Smodcastle Cinemas, for providing an unforgettable night of entertainment. I can't wait to return for more movie...

Went to Vulgarthon and had a great time. A great experience and some great staff. I thought the seats and theater were fairly comfortable amd I was able to get through 18 hours of movies in one. My only complaint: I went for Vulgarthon and was surprised I didn't get an email with any instructions/FAQ nor could I find any on the webpage as we were in for a long night and I wanted to be prepared. The night before one of the people I took said there was a FAQ on Instagram, but I dont use that much so hadnt seen it. There was a rule about no "large" backpacks that was unclear so I sent an email and never received a response. Even one after the event that said "Good question, well try to make it clearer in the future" would have been great, especially as I'd love to do it again. I had told everyone to pack light already, but it was unclear and I can definitely understand not wanting people to bring in suitcases or giant duffle bags. We only had a hotel room for one night because it didnt make sense to get one in the city or locally to just go back there for a few hours before our train home left. Technically, I wouldn't have been able to check into most hotel rooms that day as they usually make you wait until 2 or 3 and the show started at 12. We paid to store our bags somewhere in NYC and I bought the people I took very small bags for essentials so we didn't end up getting denied entry with nowhere to put them but I saw others with equivalent sized bags that we had stored there. I think emailing ticket Holders the FAQ would be good along with a little more clarity on that rule and taking into account some people might want to take public transportation to an event like that. Sorry my little complaint is longer than my review, but I dont know what else to say other than it was an awesome time and I...

If only I could select 0 stars. I had my son’s birthday party at this cinema earlier this fall. Although I paid the deposit and scheduled the party a month ahead of time, when we arrived at the scheduled time, the building was locked. After a half hour of waiting outside, and having party guests starting to arrive, I finally saw employees at the counter through the glass door. I knocked on the door, and the entire staff had absolutely no idea that a party had been scheduled. At first they argued with me that I had the wrong date. I didn’t. They were scrambling to set up since nothing was ready, and my family and I were scrambling to decorate as all of our guests had already arrived. The theater was a dirty mess, but I told them to just leave it since there was no time to clean. Minutes later, some of the boys at the party tried to use the bathroom. They could not because the bathroom was covered in fecal matter. I asked the “manager” (a teenager) if it could be cleaned up. He said, “That’s disgusting! I’m not cleaning that”. So, we were told to use the utility bathroom that was stuffed with cleaning supplies, and the kids trying to use the bathroom were tripping over open bottles of bleach. Fast forward to November…. Just now, I happened to see someone outside the theater who turned out to be the owner. I told him what happened. He said he “profusely apologizes”. I asked him if he had anything else to say. He did not. That’s a nice sentiment, but I would have preferred a refund. That was the most excruciating $500...

Great local theater that has the backing of Kevin Smith! Kevin, and Smodcastle Keeper Ernie, run a super friendly, fun, and true destination movie theater just blocks from the beach! See classics thanks to Kevin's love of film (dude makes movies after all!) and that love translates to an excellent experience all around. Seats are always inexpensive and you can see main stream movies, classics, and indie films. If you're a fan of Kevin's and haven't been there then you're missing out. If you're not a fan, you're missing out just as much.

Such a fun venue. It's got old-school bones with new-school decor. Very clean, with nice seating. A nice variety of new release films and older flicks. It's made even better with the special events, usually hosted by Kevin Smith. Sometimes, you'll get announced or unannounced guests, too. They even have panels/Q&A sessions with celebs. And each event has an auction for fantastic collectible items (usually signed). Make sure to check out Smodcastle Cinemas!
