So here’s the deal. This is not a bad program. They mean well but there are a few issues that have made my son beg not to go everyday. I’ll start with the facility. It started at the location by Sam’s which has more space but no AC. Tell me how you plan to run a summer camp for kids with no AC?? Yes, they are running fans the whole time, but in the Alabama heat wave, the fans just don’t cut it. I think enough parents complained so they moved it to the location by Chappy’s that is equipped with AC but is much smaller so they’re all crammed in there. Now they have to eat their lunch all sitting in lines and not allowed to talk, which brings me to my next issue. Yes, there is such thing as too much discipline. I understand that they have 100 kids crammed into a small space (a bit much for either location)and they need order to ensure safety and cooperation but I feel like they would be able to allow more freedom and the kids would have a better time if there were less of them or more space. The last issue I have is the deception of the program. We were told that the kids would be doing some sort of mixed martial arts each day which my son was super pumped about, but that has not been the case. Don’t get me wrong, they do activities and play games with them but not really what we were told. Like I said before, it’s not a bad program but it could definitely be better. They need to look into a bigger facility with more space and bathrooms WITH AC and allow more freedom for the kids during their...
Read moreI can't say enough great things about Coach Isaiah and the summer school and after school programs. My son has struggled with ADHD and in turn some behavioral issues due to it. People who don't know him often make snap judgements and label him a "bad kid who isn't disciplined properly." Coach Isaiah saw past his issues and spent meaningful time working with him and keeping open communication with us about how to best help him. The owner, Mr. Randall is a wonderful guy who really cares and was well beyond accommodating with us. Ultimately, the summer camp program was too much sensory input for my son, as it is a pretty popular program with LOTS of kids (and rightfully so, as both my kids really enjoyed the after school program and summer camp). If you're looking for a fun, engaging, active, safe program with some great directors like Coach Isaiah, please look into...
Read moreOur family moved to Auburn in the middle of the summer...as a first time parent, I did not realize the struggle of finding safe, reliable, and worthwhile childcare for school-aged children. I am ever so grateful that someone recommended we give AU Best summer camp a try. The owner, directors, and coaches care deeply about what they do and for our children. We have now been a constant in summer camp and After-School...my child loves AU Best - My child has learned so much, had a FUN time getting to know a new place, felt safe, and can be who she is. The team goes out of their way to communicate effectively, listen to input, be honest about child interactions, and provide excellent programming....
