I rarely write reviews but I felt Id be doing the community a disservice if I didnt warn against these guys. They are extremely unprofessional in the poor quality fo their repairs. I had spilled water on my 17in 2013 Macbook Pro and took advantage to also get a new battery installed. They kept my computer for over 2 weeks because they order parts from China and their repairs arent even done in house I think someone in San Marcos does it for them and it cost me $400+ and they were preparing me to spend about $700. After it was "repaired" I took it home and found that about 10% of the left side of my keyboard was unresponsive and not working and the new batter was not installed. When I called to not even complain but point this out and hopefully go through the inconvenience of not having my laptop for another who knows how long, they stopped answering my calls and I had to call form a different number and they were so annoyed that I could "just get used to using the right shift and command keys which might be tedious at first but at least its working..." They said they'd call me if the parts come in and you guessed it...never heard back since. Then COVID struck and I absolutely couldn't be without a laptop during these times so I bt the bullet and stopped bothering them to avoid having my laptop gone for another few weeks during the critical WFH times. So if I can spare anyone else the trouble my advice is just go...
Read moreI had an aging computer, desktop, (11 yrs old ) and needed to catch up to today’s standards. The computer was slow, encumbered by Norton defender and security fixes i had installed over the years. After a conversation with Scott on the phone, he recommended transferring my precious photos and music to a more reliable more compact HP. He had quite a few different used models that he thought would bring me into the modern age. He searched for a compatible HP and made sure the price was in my budget. He explained how he would transfer the data and how my issues would be resolved.
So I exchanged my giant desktop dinosaur for a compact HP, the price was reasonable and despite a tiny scratch, I agreed to go with what Doc Scott suggested. He called me back that same day said it was ready, I was sure I wouldn’t see it till a week or so.
Anyway I needed a new monitor too because of the cable, no problem he had those too. Scott and his staff, especially Elisha embody what Austin is all about, friendly, fair and local. Don’t be fooled by a fancy show room or pushy computer geeks. Any questions I had were Answered and the next day I had a great, fun, computer, better monitor, and was a phone call away if I needed help. They recycle cable and electrical parts and I would recommend them to my...
Read moreI work in software/databases, so I am pretty familiar with the computers. However, I am not very knowledgeable or comfortable tearing my computer open to go through the hardware and try and swap pieces out.
That being said, I had a serious framerate issue with my gaming desktop, and was doing troubleshooting on it for two weeks.
I consulted Reddit, I wiped everything besides the BIOS, ran plenty of diagnostics, gave it a good dusting, but nothing fixed the issue. I finally decided to take it in and have someone look at the hardware, realizing most likely I had a busted chord or fan somewhere that would need to be replaced. I gave Scott a rundown, and he told me he would call me when he figured it out. He called me ten minutes later, so quickly I did not see the call until they had already closed.
I then worked the rest of the week with Alicia who did all the replacements for my cooling system, graphics card and power core. Just got it home and have my computer running better than when I first bought it due to the new upgrades.
I cannot recommend them enough, they are very knowledgeable and Alicia is a saint. They will figure out what is going on, and you hopefully won’t need to wait three weeks for an appointment like other stores I had...
