I was charged $400 for a keratin treatment that left my scalp blistered, sore, and peeling. Would not recommend! I was so excited to receive my first ever keratin treatment and I had called multiple salons and ended up choosing Damron because Brisa was so helpful on the phone. When I called back to book my appointment, I was told that the price listed on the website for keratin treatments was incorrect (250+) and that it is usually double that but that they would honor the price because it is listed online. When I got to the salon, during the process my stylist Brisa told me the price for MY hair would be $350 and asked if that was okay, I said yes. I understand I have a lot of hair and it is extremely thick and curly. When it came time to blow dry my hair with the keratin treatment in it, the fumes from the treatment were so STRONG it made my eyes water and my throat burn, I literally could not breathe and we had to take breaks bc the fumes were too strong even with a mask and they did not have a fan or proper ventilation. This is when I started wondering if I had made a wrong decision. I had asked if this product was formaldehyde free and was told there was no formaldehyde in it however, once these chemicals are heated they do contain formaldehyde and are often hidden in the ingredients under names like “aldehyde” etc. No one should lie to their clients about what is in the products being used. Moving on, I could tell that the stylist was having a difficult time trying to blow dry my hair and didn’t realize my hair would need to be dryed in small sections. My scalp was also starting to burn which isn’t supposed to happen and means the product was definitely put on too close to my scalp. The entire procedure took 7/8 hours..... I had not eaten anything the entire day and was told the procedure would only be about 3/4 hours. Again, I understand I have ALOT of hair however I blame the amount of time on the stylist not being familiar with my hair texture/ proper handling of my hair as I have had many diff hair appointments and none that were 8 hours long. After being in the salon for 8 hours and being exhausted when I went to pay I was asked for $400. $50 more than what I was told I would pay at the beginning of the procedure. I explained that this is not what I was quoted and that the extra $50 was supposed to be her tip. The owner of the salon then said that if she had looked at my hair she would have charged me $600 and would have probably not done my hair. While that may be the case, it is not my fault I was quoted incorrectly from the beginning and if the stylist was worried or unskilled in my hair type I would have much rather her declined me than have me spend 8 hours in a salon to charge me double than what I was expecting and leave my scalp damaged! When I sent pictures of my peeling scalp to my stylist her reply was “have you washed your hair?” No concern, no apology, no solution to fix the issue. She said it should be fine after a wash which it isn’t. While I had nothing personal against my stylist and actually liked her attitude and willingness to continue with my hair I am beyond disappointed in her response and the raising of the price after my treatment was done....
Read moreI had my first appointment at Damron Salon today with Susan Campanaro. The salon is very cute and comfortable. I really appreciated that the cutting stations are positioned in a thoughtful way such that I never made eye contact with another client or stylist, even though you're all in the same room you feel a sense of privacy. I admit, I'm a little shy and this was a nice surprise. A few more thoughtful features are the neck/head support at the washing station and the foot rest at the dryer for us shorter people. I've never had such a comfortable wash.
Now to the best part, Susan gave me a great haircut. It's perfect and just what I asked for. I can't remember the last time I've had a haircut where I didn't come home and wash out all the product and restyle my hair. I've had really good stylists before but never one who checked every box. I think Susan is the holy grail of stylists for me. She listened, she asked if I was happy with the final cut and I felt very comfortable to say where I wanted a minor change. She told me what she was doing all along the way and taught me a few new tricks. She's good at her job and a very comfortable person to spend an hour hanging out with while she makes you beautiful.
Lastly, I've been to many stylists who said they were Deva trained but I know they were not actually Deva trained. I'll tell you how I know, a Deva cut happens on dry hair and it's washed afterwards. My first Deva stylist, who convinced me to let my curls live, used to cut each lock individually and always dry, he changed my life with all he taught me, that was over 15 years ago. Susan is the first person to give me a true Deva cut since him. So be warned there are many people who will claim to be Deva trained who are not. The training really does make...
