This is not only the worst HEB in the chain, but by far the worst grocery store I have ever visited. The store is currently under construction. Instead of temporarily closing the store and rapidly completing construction, HEB has elected to terrorize its customers with a prolonged construction schedule that keeps the store open and on life support throughout the process like you holding out hope for the promotion at work that will never come. Each time you enter, the store has been rearranged due to the construction. However, even at its "peak" before construction, the store was a disaster. Items are often out of stock or inexplicably placed next to totally related items. Carts are all over the parking lot. The check-out area feeds directly into the store entrance, creating a constant battle of people try to enter and exit from the same small set of doors at the same time. Currently, the interior of the store looks like a bad haunted house, with empty coolers, plastic sheeting and caution tape strewn about. If you are unlucky enough to live in central Texas, you know that HEB holds a near-virtual monopoly on the grocery store business. What I wouldn't give for a clean, well-organized Publix. I'd even settle for a Kroger. But NO - we must suffer with HEB and its stranglehold on central Texas. If only Ken Paxton would investigate something useful, like this. The ONE saving grace of this store is Jorge, so is often hovering around the self-checkouts handing out bags and showing off that he does squats twice a day, if you know what I mean.

This H-E-B has been here for a long time, and for a long time it was kind of going downhill. It was nice back when I was a graduate student, and I lived in this neighborhood, but that was back in the 80s. It looks like they’re making a concerted effort to improve it but because of that there’s tons of construction everywhere. In the store, in the parking lot, on the roads around the building, so it’s very difficult to get in here and parts of the store are kind of in disrepair. Hopefully won’t reopens it will be one of the nicer ones around, but for right now, I would go five minutes to the east and go to the H-E-B across I 35.

I always love an HEB that doesn't make me feel like I'm hunting in a rat experiment! This HEB had well presented shelving, products, and employees which is always a Southern Comfort when in a New Town even if it is your Native States Capitol! I found 1 discouraging scenario during āœ” out and that was the individual pictured below being my cashier as if a fake name had been used for employment (side note that happened when I ended up with a roommate who was on a terror watch list as well but he probably works for the ADF since he is from AZ)!

Really!! Listen to this!! After not going to the grocery store in a while, I decided to go and just when I thought I might have a great shopping experience. Here comes one of Managers walking up fast behind me looking at me and my merchandise as if I’m gonna walk out with it. (Clearly in the self checkout line waiting patiently ). I,of course, pay for my groceries as usual. Who do I see standing right at the front door as I walk by. The On duty security guard ,who works for the same company as myself, funny enough . If anyone were doing their job correctly. There would need to be probable cause to peruse someone like they may steel from your establishment. Now, being black and getting off work and walking at a pace that’s mine. Isn’t reason to stereotype someone, especially the company has no valid reason for doing so. You say you don’t want black customers who pay everyday and have never or never will steal from your establishment to feel singled out. I’m not sure I believe that!! You know what though everyone,I’m going to do the right thing and call them like they want me to and try to rectify this treatment. This company, I swear could not give me any reason to suspect or persue me. Especially, since all I do is shop and spend money!!(continuation) ……Let me just say,H.E.B has some great employees, as I was one many years ago. As a whole H.E.B doesn't mean well by some of their customers. Especially, the black(African American)customers. I have been shopping at H.E.B stores since 1991 when my father retired military in Texas. I worked at a south location for a while. While I worked there, not only were some of the customers biased against interacting with me. The management gave me a l could care less attitude towards me. Showing other Caucasian and Hispanic employees/customers with more care. That being said. I've lived in Austin for twenty some odd years. Never once have or will I ever steal or have the thought enter my mind to do so..why because I'm a good person. Regardless of what the H.E.B establishment believes. They have managed to do the unthinkable. They hire black(African American) people. With the intent to have them subject other black(African American)customers to prejudice. Of course, with the excuse that, we aren't a prejudiced or racist company. Especially, since through affirmative action we hire black(African American)people. That being said. Not once have I ever been arrested or caught on camera for stealing from the company. Yet, every time I go into most locations like this one whether in uniform or as a civilian. They have managed to have some of the Hispanic and African American staff follow me around like l've stolen something or I'm about to steal something. Making my shopping experience the worst ever. That goes for myself and many other black(African American patrons. Now, why would a company like H.E.B do something like that to me or others like me. Especially, if they claim to hire and serve us in the name of "equality". They do these things like as if some of us black people are oblivious at the fact we're being watched and followed and at times not handed change back in our hands like we're all diseased. Come on H.E.B!!! Do better at noticing good people who have never stolen or will steal from you..!!! We just wanna...

An investigation on HEB and this particular store was conducted by the Texas Department of Banking and Western Union Financial Services for irregularities regarding transactions conducted on Western Union products, specifically the cashing of its money orders . Before proceeding with the specifics on the complaint I filed HEB Corp the entity that owns each individual store through a published advertisement states the following regarding the cashing of Western Union money orders which it sells: " Stop by your H-E-B Business Center to cash a check or withdraw cash from your debit card! For a fee starting at $ 3 you can cash your government, payroll, dividend, insurance and WESTERN UNION MONEY ORDERS THAT ARE PURCHASED AT H-E-B." On September 20, 2022 I tried to cash a Western Union money order I purchased at the H-E-B located off 51st St and Mueller at the H-E-B located off 41st. St and Red River where I shop, the clerk at the Business center refused cashing the money order, she without proof argued that according H-E-B policies Western Union money orders purchased at H-E-B can only be cashed at the H-E-B store where they were purchased, this was refuted by H-E-B corporate in San Antonio and documented on a letter I received from Western Union Financial stating from H-E-B corporate "the agent in this case did not follow proper procedure" (making reference to the clerk and her belligerent manager at this particular H-E-B) it further states: " H-E-B corporate will send out a reminder to their stores about their money order policies" which turned out to be not the case as I tried (once again) cashing the money order on January 12, 2023 and both the Business center clerk (same one from 9/20/22) and her manager manifested not knowing even after I presented them with highlighted copies of the Texas Department of Banking and Western Union Financial investigation results , the manager himself had to call Western Union to inquiry on the matter. I have also to point out the disrespectful and treatment I received at this H-E-B store on 9/20/22 from the Business Center manager whose interaction I characterized as belligerent and who chose to respond to arguments that I presented to her in a concise and respectful way and which she could not refute by summoning prior to our interactions the store's security guard and the demeaning talk down treatment I got from the store's manager both of them as a result of arguments presented to them by a man who happened to have the wrong skin color and spoke the language with somewhat of an accent which they could not refute Also there was another complaint filed on this particular H-E-B with the Better Business Bureau on September 20, 2022 which H-E-B corporate refused to answer on November 1st and November 18th, 2022 when a second notification was sent to them by the Better Business Bureau both on this same matter. I have to point out that this is not the first time I have problems with financial related products they sell where they unilaterally come up with excuses and divert from procedures established by...

1st I had to log into a second Google account to write a review because HEB blocked me from posting reviews after I gave them an unfavorable review 2 years ago. This unfavorable review relates to HEB using Walmart intimidation techniques detaining you when you buy merchandise from their store. I was detained by Michael from HEB requesting I show him my receipt for a $7.08 purchase. I approached him to show me the evidence he had that I had stolen anything from his store and he admitted he did not have any but he still wanted to check my receipt. I refused and Michael followed me out the door. When I noticed him following me I returned to him and he acted evasive as if he was going to be assaulted (I'm 64 5'8" 140 lbs he is 30 years younger perhaps 4 inches taller and 40 lbs heavier the power imbalance is clear) I pulled the receipt out of my pocket and advised him that Walmart has paid millions over the years for this same tactic that is a violation of the 4th Amendment of illegal search and seizure. This is not some arcane conspiracy theory as the local NBC affiliate KXAN ran a story on this issue in May of 2024 citing the Texas Civil Code and KHOU in Houston as a part of the Verify feature of their news broadcast has covered this issue in the past. Links to all three references are included here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8183qX_KmUI https://www.kxan.com/news/texas/are-texas-shoppers-legally-required-to-stop-for-receipt-checkers-at-store-exits/ https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/CP/htm/CP.124.HTM Approaching the management at HEB about anything other than a glowing review will be met with apparently getting blocked from leaving future reviews. HEB has the opportunity to do the right thing and train it's personnel how to avoid treating paying customers (I've shopped at this store since 1979) like their are accused criminals and limit the civil liability to HEB. Given that they blocked my other email address from making reviews (which could have included favorable reviews) I am not optimistic that leadership at HEB will reach out for constructive dialog. To shoppers caveat emptor - you may have paid for your products but as long as HEB and Walmart can bully you without consequence they most...
