A friend introduced me to freebirds on Riverside & Congress some years back, and it was love at first bite (with Freebirds that is). I'v been going there ever since and always order either a Monster or a Freebird Burrito depending on hunger level. Moving foward and hanging around Hyde Park area I noticed a Freebirds location at Hancock Center. After several visits and feeling as happy as usual eating their great food, one day I got sick. That happened soon after eating half of a Monster Burrito. I had saved other half for eating later. It was my stomach that let me know via regurgitation. I was surprised to think it could be Freebirds food, but it was only different thing I had done for past two weeks. Wanting to give Freebirds benefit of doubt I saw it as oppurtinity to test PR service on a higer level. So online I got in touch with complaint department personnel to report event. They did respond promptly that they would look into it immediately. The following day I went to same location with receipt and bagged remainig burrito. I asked to speak with store manager, and had a pleasant conversation involving how to best procceed. He was congenial, epathised, with my story of having felt sick. Though he couldn't oppenly aggree with why and did not refund any money, he offered me free Freebirds food coupons woth about $40. For that I give them a top PR score of 10. Even the best eateries are not perfect, and things can happen. Before & after that one time I got sick, when I visit Freebirds I notice place is usually always kept very clean,...
Read moreI've been eating at Freebirds since 1990. Apparently they no longer want me to eat at any of their locations. Their website is a disaster. They just instituted a new policy (was told that at 2nd store I called) You can walk on in and pick up some Covid with your food by ordering in store OR you can order off their broken website. NO CALL IN ORDERS. Why answer the phone ? That's for curbside delivery. Hmm.. No mention of this on the site. Tried to order online. OMG Couldn't be done and wasn't done by me. Pizza Hut figured out how to make a ordering website with dozens of options that worked about 4 years ago. It can be done . But not with these folks. You get to pick 1 meat, 1 rice ( in store you can mix rices ) 1 bean Wait... what??? only 1 bean ? ( In store you can get 1-2 or 3) Pretty sure even Chipotle lets you have more than 1. NExt comes the fixings... Many choices BUT... only 1 scoop. (instore... you know the drill ) . Finally the part where you get to put in instructions. EVERY OTHER SITE I've ordered on allows for special instructions.. does this? NO. It has a huge space (roughly 3-5 lines of text possible) BUT if you try to save it ... you get a error of only 45 characters allowed.. Twitter does it better. Needless to say, my family and I did not get Freebirds and won't possibly ever again. It's expensive for the 4 items I get if I can't ask for extra lettuce etc. OH and I'm commenting here because the comment form ??? NOPE IT...
Read moreThis location is the WORST. All of the staff give "I can't help you" vibes and the food has been lackluster and PRICES ARE SO OUTRAGEOUS now!! I don't know why I keep coming back and giving them chances to redeem. Today I got to the checkout and paid, had ordered a thing of chips and Queso with my burrito, and just got the Queso. So I asked the girl if I had ordered correctly, and she said "well I didn't even ring you up for that because the guy didn't tell me correctly" and then just blank stared at me like there was zero solution (So what did I just pay almost $20 for? A steak freebird burrito and a regular drink only? Did you sprinkle gold on my burrito while you were at it? Those definitely weren't transparent prices on the menu board. What a sham). She basically told me that since she didn't charge me I had to walk away with a thing of Queso by itself. Her mistake, my problem. I would have paid for it...but was literally shooed away from the register. Guess I'll just drink the cheese.
I worked in customer service for over 6 years and I get that this whole establishment has a lax vibe, but acting like your customers are...
