Happy Mother's Day to me. CLEAR Property Management I am so angry right now!!!!! The apartments came to check the mold on the ceiling in my daughter's room. This is daughter's bed as maintenance didn't move anything, just started spraying bleach and cleaning it off. Was bracing the ladder against her bed. That won't fix the water damage from the damaged roof that hadn't been repaired for years! No one should live in these apartments. This is the response we got.
We have lived at Soco Apartments 6300 Congress Ave in Austin, TX for almost 3 years now. Only a few things have been fixed since we moved in and that was just recently and our lease is up in August. The vent in my daughter's room was not sealed properly and our electric has been high and no reimbursement for it taking so long to fix. Our fridge is broken and the ice maker broke. Our freezer iced over and we lost all the food in our fridge because the maintenthere came and said it was fine and put the dial back where it was supposed to be. They finally came to look at it and the new maintenance man tried to do it again. To really take the cake, the whole time it had been leaking and roaches were on the spout and he just put in back in the hole without cleaning off the roaches I had to ask him and then he didn't clean or flush the line. Our microwave spits saw dust because they replaced it and drilled through the cabinet while they held the microwave in place. My dishwasher leaves food on the dishes but if it runs it is fine so I handwash my dishes. I can't open my big bay window because it comes off the track. Maintenance put wd40 and said it was fixed. It rains down the wall next to our front door. They have not come to look at that and have not looked at the wet spot on the ceiling in my daughter's room. When it rains her floor gets wet too. There are ants on my bedroom window and pest control hasn't been here for a while. Dealing with the office was a nightmare. The first manager was rude and condescending. He even walked our apartment and knew how bad it was. He lost our lease and did not give us our renewal until 2 weeks before our lease was up. Still they did help with extending our rate until we decided. We signed a lease in November and thought everything was going okay. In January we get a threating call saying we needed to sign the lease they sent or we were going to be put on market rent month to month. I was crying and worried but didn't want to sign another lease. Victoria Lopez is a bully. I told her we had signed a lease and it was not my fault they lost it. She also hinted to my Facebook post and how it made her look bad. I said I was sorry but that was our experience. After that is was more of the same. The regional manager has helped some but still we are dealing with broken things. Our fridge is important. I told him our daughter is homeschooled and we had a schedule that was important but we were available after 3:30. My daughter's schedule is very important for personal reasons and I explained that to the regional manager. He said I should have told him earlier because he didn't understand why I was so adamant. I said it was private and I shouldn't have to share that to be helped or understood. Still maintenance came at 3:00. Then came the next day at 11:20 during nap time. Barely knocked and let himself in. Said he would come back the next day and still hasn't. We were threatened with eviction by Victoria but the regional manager worked with us and saved us from eviction but then snapped at me when I told him about the maintenance man coming early. Saying when can he send him and I had to remind him of our previous email. Don't live...
Read moreNew management is incredibly money hungry. They painted the apartment complex (which took a year and damage to OUTSIDE belongings), they did a mandatory installation for Google fiber (which also resulted in damages to belongings INSIDE my apartment that took MONTHS to resolve), remodeled their front office, and raised the rent by $700. During the management and renovation switch there was not a single employee, save the manager Guillermo, answering calls and emails which made it extremely difficult to renew my lease at that time. The complex's gates are always broken, cars are always driving the wrong way, never any parking by your unit, my roommates car was vandalized (apartment provided no compensation but witness testimony), and my car was swiped in the parking lot AGAIN. Walls are "thin," we can always hear the children below us, next to us, and caddy-corner to us, crying at all hours of the day. You can hear conversations from your room to the walkways outside your windows. Management loses documents and makes up information, updating your renters portal, then retracts their update months later which raises your 2x2 rent to $2,000 (for a month to month lease while you look for a new apartment). They add new fees everyday as my potential new lease contract date is approaching: valet trash $6 is now $25/month (even though it can take a week to have trash removed from your front door, no valet recycling which also can take a couple weeks to clear from the dumpsters), renters insurance through apartments $11 is now $40/month, free amenities are now $45/month (which I have never used, never want to use, cannot opt out of, and are inaccessible if I wanted to use them). When I moved here I payed
Read moreWhen I first moved in to Soco Apartments in July 2019, the management was great, and the prices were a good deal for the area. During COVID, the management changed to Clear Property Managment, and this is the worst management company with which I have ever dealt. The prices are now completely unreasonable for the area. In addition to the higher prices, management attempts to nickel and dime residents for everything and engages in dishonest accounting practices. If you do decide to move here, keep records of everything! Screen shot every payment you make. When I moved out, the manager tried to charge a $3,340 lease termination fee even though: 1) there was no lease and 2) I was clearly paying month-to-month. This was far from my first experience with her trying to mischarge me from something, and she started in her position in January 2022! It took her two weeks to clear that, and then she tried to claim that there was not a security deposit on her ledger, believing after everything that has happened that that would be a good enough excuse not to give me my security deposit back. I filed a BBB complaint that you can now look up because the management never responded. It wasn't until 103 days after moving out that I finally got my security...
